As the title says guys, i have never felt so dishearted with this place as i do now and i know am not alone.

I assumed a club with members who paid their dosh meant they were looked upon as stake holders if you like, therefore it is WE who own it, though not forgetting Craig who is the boss man who created it :p

With that in mind it beggers belief at some of the things that go on around here, for those of you following Matty's and then my own problems in the fight club you will see that trying to get answers from those appointed by US the members is somewhat of a trying time, don't get me wrong in general it all runs smoothly and i have a great deal of respect for some of those who give up their time to help run the club. However i now this place as going beyond reasonale moderation at times and more like being draconian policed :confused:

I have just heard that a VERY long standing member Matty has been banned for 2 weeks as it was suggested he is causing trouble ?? what's this then ? have any of you fellas complained that Matty is a trouble maker ? this guy has been on this forum a long time and has given a great deal back, yer couldn't find a nicer bloke and i have to say am gobsmacked with this action against him, even i've been threatend with a Ban ! what's all this then with what authority are bans imposed by what rights ? things are going to far it's almost at the stage that if you upset the wrong person, yer off ! With suddenly deleated posts and threats.

As for Jafftt's posts threads and long standing issues, well there's no point in even going there.

Am not wanting to cause trouble, enflame any trouble but have got to ask what on earth is happening to us.

What EXCATLY is your role in this club and what authority do you have ?

I believed it is nothing more than you are the provider of our bandwith and have no authority to do Admin or mod what is posted on the forums.

I provide hosting for this site, I provide the banwidth for this site, i have provided two servers for this site to run on, I am the one who drives down to fix the server, i am the one who has bought out of his own pocket hardware to replace broken hardware from sennas server. I am the one who has never asked for a penny to do this. I wake up at 3am when im alerted of problems with the site.

 

I am a member of the commitee and as such have as much input in this club as every other commitee member, this includes an moderator role. I was approached by craig along with the rest of the commitee to undertake this role.

 

With reguards to my admin role, I am responsible for the software upgrades of the server, I am responsible for the software upgrades of the forum software, I am responsible for the new look of the site, I am responsible for keeping the rides section running, I am responsible for answering technical questions reguarding the forum and ensuring the smooth running of the forum. my role is not one for you to question.

Thanks for that answer Mike now i know you do have moderators rights that was all i was really interested in and explanins further for me. Yes i knew all the rest hence that's why i put down what i thought you did.

Oh and one last thing, as a paid up member, it is for me or anyone else to ask fella.

Yes I agree, this is all getting out of hand.

 

All this has been done and dusted many times before.

The committee and moderators do so much for this club and all they get is grief.

All you seem to see is a marquee, some lectures and some trophies once a year.

Personally I thought Billing this year was pretty Crap. The only time I enjoyed myself was on Sunday night when it was all over and the reason being was that I was running round like a blue arse fly all day trying to please everyone and most of the committee and mods were doing the same.

 

Mike is a member of the committee and gives so much to the forum.

Yeah he may not own the club as such but he pretty much owns everything the club & forum uses.

 

I agree with Mike and I really don’t think you have any right to question his role as you did.

Mike is down as IT and host provider i was not 100% aware if he was able to go around banning people and deleating threads he didn't like, so i asked if he was able to simple as that ! I wanted a more clearer outlook on what happens around here and now i have it, end off on that one. But lets not forget and i assume am right we the club pay Mike for his hosting services whilst at the same time he gives a great deal of his time for free and that is appreaciated by all including myself however he is not alone many of us have done a great deal for the club, neither of us need reminding of that thanks.

I have to ask myself this though and am sure many ask it themselves, BEFORE there was so much moderation and commitee set up, how many people were banned or had their posts deleated ? unfortunately i don't have access to that information but with a reasonable good memory i would say far less grief over 2 years ago compared to now.

Finally no am not trying to start anything between the mods/commitee and members a "them and us" scenario can't help what the picture paints though fella simple as.. This started in my failing to understand the reasoning around Matty being banned, who's next ? good ole timmy turbo who lets face it by his sense of humour has come out with some pretty near the edge stuff, but then i guess it will probably be me for daring to ask questions regarding my concerns, but hey i've only been here many many years and given great service to hundreds of people including you, many things for free, oh and again for you. We don't need a competion to see who has the highest horse mate, we need a commitee that doesn't sometimes appear to act in a draconian way !

Personally i would like to see a list of all those banned and deleated in past 18 months compared to years ago, better still would be who by.

This thread doesn't exactly project a harmonious club to prospective members, and that's not good for anyone!

No i do not accept any money from the club, I do not ask for money and I have refused money. I do not at the same time run around telling everybody that fact, this is probably the first time it has been mentioned by myself. Infact I even pay my £20 renewal each year for club membership!!

My justification for 24 hour cooling off period, a post was made that I believed contradicted the forums T&C, this was removed for harmony reasons, this was then reposted so was removed with a warning, the post was then added a 3rd time. I don't have the time to remove something 100 times in a night so that was the best way to deal with it by imposing the minimum ban time i could.

The rest are people who have come on as traders without following club guidelines so had their accounts terminated, i think you will agree with these bans.

thats about it really. so I do not think you are justified in claiming I over moderate or that this forum is overmoderated, fact of the matter it there is so little moderation on this forum and it only happens when there is trouble about to kick off, people do not accept original moderation desicions or there are people out to trade for free.

Risking a ban here, but just can't keep quiet any more! :( I've seen so many of these type of threads started over the months, and one over-riding impression that I get is that all you moderators must have been on some Politicians training course for not answering questions. All you guys seem to do is try to shoot the person asking the question down in flames, all the while avoiding the original question. You then say you want the question clarified. This leads to the question 'asker' getting frustrated, and then getting a bit insulting (especially when he's clarified it in twenty different ways). Then you moderators jump down their throats again!

 

All the answers from the mods seem shrouded in secrecy and it's like pulling teeth in the first place. You guy's then get all shitty about how much time/effort you put in for 'nowt. Well fine, but no-one forced you into the position. I'm sure we're all really grateful for your help, but if you're going to constantly get 'uppety' about things then what's the point?

 

 

Mike, you are a case in point. It is very very rare for you to answer a question about the board reaonably. You have a habbit of being VERY oficious and dimissive. Many of these threads would have been two posts long if you had answered the question in the first place! If it is of a sensitive nature then say so, and contact the poster direct, or give a calm and reasonable answer, rather than tryiong to shut the other person down. Think you need a chill pill pal!

The reason being that the correct manner in which to addres these complaints is to contac the club secretary and wait for an answer from the commitee as a whole, which can take time.

 

My answers may be deemed as political but that is because I cannot make an official stance on the decisions of the commitee without their full backing, I do not try to shut the other person down, I am more willing to reply to people when they reply to me, this is what a debate is all about. Of course I could say exactly what I feel in the true words of an essex boy but at the end of the day I have a responisbility to both answer the question AND not break commitee rules or offend or put other commitee members in a position they may not like to be in.

 

At the end of the day this is a car club for the Nissan 300zx, the commitee is elected annually and they are in charge of running the club, the forum is a section of the club and not the club as such.

 

Personally I try to be as open as I think I can be, but if pushed I will not stray from my original stance, i'm sorry but I do not usually break because I am asked the same question 10 times, I answer the question to the best of my ability the first time.

its not just a club for 300 peeps though anymore theres still those of us who have long since got rid of them but still visit as we have built up friendships with people on here.....im not subbed so i dont see what goes on within but i still come on here as its a fun place to be even though there's some monster ego's on here it still doesnt stop you chattin with people you know.........written communication always seems to put a rocket under peoples arses and with some many keyboard warriors and tough guys in one forum you will get the odd fracas now and again its inevitable.....the pen is mighier than the sword and this thread alone proves that....friction can sometimes clear the air also so its not always a bad thing

This forum is starting to get a bit stupid. Why does everyone feel the need to bitch about everthing?

I dont know about anyone else, but the only reason i use this forum is because i am genuinly interested in the 300zx and this is a great place for advice/new ideas/bargains and good general banter. I pay my 20quid just to help the place keep running.

TBH i dont give two ****s what the moderators do, as long as it doesnt affect what i use the forum for. The only thing that annoys me a little is some of the shit that Mike says.

All this started because Matty was being a bitch. He lost in a vote. So ****!! There was 7 other people in for that role and none of the other losers caused a fuss. I do, however, think that banning Matty was ridiculous. Hes been here for ages and comes across (to me anyway) as a nice bloke.

Smithy, get on the phone to one of the moderators about your problems. Starting all this again is getting a little boring.

Hopefully from threads like this Mike some constructive comments are made in how make some areas even better perhaps, who knows.

As your readily supplying information Ryan has asked a valid question in that how was matty banned after his posts in an unmoderated section, a free for all if you like an area created where you can say what you want without the risk of any come back. Was it more a case of he upset yourself or mark or both and then mark banned him with your backing perhaps ? we really can't go round on egg shells fella through fear of upsetting a mod cos if we do we're banned and or our posts deleated.

I think the point some guys have or are trying to make here, moderation is good to have but we all believed it was there to protect the CLUB from outside/libelous action etc, NOT from each other the guys who go drinking together at biling and meet up to talk Zeds through out the year.

The mods are well appreaicated for their efforts in protecting the club and the traders from illeagal trader posts but why does it need to further between ourselves, i think someone needs to lighten up on this mate and i think others agree.
