Ello,

As a total newbie to the world of Zed's, infact not even owning one yet, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but someday soon...blah blah...

Well, in short whats the Pro's and Con's of a TT verses an NA????

So comeone all you NA's and TT owners let the arguments begin!

:D

if ur gonna race everybody the TT the better car very quick, but i think MAC or somebody with a very nice TT said the NA is masses of fun as its more controllable geting the tail out etc.

...how about in reliablity terms?

NA are less powerful so less stress on engine parts and there are no turbos to go wrong.

Ive got an NA myself. Main reason ibought the NA is cos im young and didnt think i could afford to run a TT. As i was missing out in the TT, i made sure i got everything else i wanted in a zed. SWB, manual, black, targas.

Ive had it just over a year and not had a single problem (touch wood). Ive done around 8-9k miles in that time.

The only thing that annoyed me was that it was restricted in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear(import), but that was easily sorted by changing the chip. (cheers Jock)

Its not ridiculously fast but its still a lot of fun, looks the dogs danglies and its defo not slow.

The NA is a nice car.

THE TT IS AWESOME and will leave you grinning like a demented fool. :D

Then after a month or two just like any junky you start looking to se what you can do to get a bigger fix. Thats how it starts until your £5,000 lump has cost you £25,000, but who cares cos your still smiling. :D :D :D

NA better for day to day..TT a better car...but a pain in the bottom to keep

Sometimes when i read the threads about peoples turbos

giving up, i wish i'd bought an NA....less to worry about!

But then i go for a blast in her & i soon change my mind! :D

...I'D like a TT, but it's gonna be an every day mowta, and the Mrs is a new driver and it'll be her first car....hence an NA is on the cards....she'll still probably manage to wrap it round a tree

She's decided that she wants it sprayed metallic flake pink

NOT!

done 20k+ miles in my TT with only a PTU failure.

its modded with 16psi & a daily driver........................

what were the benefits on a N/A again?!?! :D

Better to ask what are the benefits of being a qualified mechanic with your own four bay workshop :)

Seriously tho, there are good and bad in both, the NA tends to be less stressed and easier to maintain due to less components and less power. It doesnt match the power of a TT, but IMHO is more driveable and you can use more of the power, more of the time.

The bottom line is your opinion and your choice, both are fantastic cars and neither of them are slow cars.

6 bay + MOT & 4 wheel alignment bay

seriously tho, apart from routine maintenance & mods that anyone could have done, it hasnt let me down apart from a PTU failure (which i repaired the same day until the replacement turned up from courtesy). that was the point i was making. it has been very reliable :)

Thanks 4 the opinions guys, I had a blast in a stock NA and was dead impressed......I'd love to have a blast in a TT, just to compare.

So if any of you guys are in my area......... ;)

I bought a NA in february and I love it.

I think it's lighter than a TT so you could argue it'll handle slightly better but I doubt if anyone would ever notice that.

It also runs cooler in the engine bay and I think that makes the electrics more reliable (all the heat from the turbos can make wiring go brittle or something).

It's quick but not super-quick. There are occasions I wish I had turbos but after my 200SX needed a new turbo, I swore I'd never get another used turbo car. I can't afford the turbos to go and cost thousands to repair / replace and I'm not mechanicaly competent enought to do the job myself.

I think the most important thing when buying a 300ZX is to find a really nice one and that was more important to me than going for a turbo. A turbo would have cost more too and I could only just afford my NA. I wanted a late a car as possible, again to keep runing costs down. You can get NAs and turbos as late as 2000 if you look (very) hard.

And if you do find a NA isn't powerful enough, there's always nitrous. I guess you could get a NA nitroused for about £1000. And I'd hope the three litre engine could handle an extra 75bhp or so without damaging it, especially if you only use the nitrous occasionally.

If I was buying again, I'd seriusly consider buying from somone on this board. You can check all their posts and see if they've had problems and most people on here are enthusiasts who look after their cars.

Does that help? Myabe not! Good luck whatever you go for.

That's proper Bo! Mr David.....I'm in the same boat, can't afford to replace busted turbos. 3.0 NA is more than enough power (for now)....

I was put off turbo cars with the two I had previous, always over heating, blowing HG's, brittle wiring looms catching fire etc etc etc....

I do miss the PPPppssssccccchhhhh.....of the shiny Forge dump valves though :(

The local cops are getting way to keen on speeding around here, they seem to treat speeding as bad as drink driving

Having turbo cars is just too tempting for me, but I couldn't even imagine having two of the feckers!.......

I'm in love with the look of the Zed, be it TT or NA.....but if an NA will be cheaper/more reliable, then thats fine for me, as long as I can become the proud owner of a Zed! :D
