Evening one and all!

Just thought I'd share with you the transformation that the engine bay of my Zed has just gone through.

Got the gorgeous stainless steel boostpipes from Smithy (many thanks mate - fab workmanship) and eventhough they weren't as easy to fit as advertised the result is worth all the sweat, blood and foul language! Have a look at the "before" and "after" shots:

Looks the dogs danglies me thinks ...

Also found that the little vacuum pipe that attaches onto the bottom of the passenger side throttle body was disconnected. Seems to have calmed my rough idle as well as seemingly cured the heavy detonation sounds I was hearing. However, I haven't taken the car out on a propper run so I may be premature with my optimism. As far as I can tell there are no other hoses disconnected with the exception of one that is coming through the under-engine-splashguard. It's too far back for me to reach as I can't get under the sodding car! Will have a look when I get the front-end airborn when I replace my brake pads tomorrow (if it stops raining that is ...)

Pleasant evening to you all!

Oohhhhh bummer! My optimisme was yet again premature ... Took the car out today for an extended drive (after fitting new brake pads) only to find that the "detonation" problem hasn't disappeared with the reconnection of that hose I spoke of in an earlier post. It does seem however, that the car runs smoother (i.e., idle and gear changes) but that may have to do more with the cooler temps we've been experiencing.

Oh well, back to the drawing board ... must get timing checked soon (AndyP ... will mail ya in a sec).

But those pipes still look fantastic! wink.gif

Oh Danny, who`s been cleaning their engine then ?? Looking good Jeff TT

Bummer with the detto, see you later mate (Oil change)

Engine Bay look immaculate. Has that been jet washed? If not, is a jet wash on the engine bay likely to cause any probs?

redface.gif No, no, no, nooooooo! I will never let a jetwash near my engine - never-ever!

Mine got to look that way after many hours of TLC with a rag, engine degreaser and more toothbrushes than I care to remember.

Seriously, I've said it before on this forum, don't jetwash or steam clean your engine. As the engine of our cars get extremely hot, even under normal driving conditions, the connectors, leads and plugs tend to get brittle. If you unleash the powers of a jetwash on them they break and you end up with a clean but a dead Zed. frown.gif

Hope this helps.
