When i take the metal cap off my radiator all the water is browny sort of colour i've been told it's rust.

Does this matter is there anything i could do or should do.

Or is it ok just to forget about it?

Thanks but really stupid question how do i flush it?

Radiator water goes that rusty water when the head gasket is leaking too.

Don't panic... yet - also happens if you/ someone keeps topping up the water and not putting antifreeze in also.

Argh... Nice one Rich666 i have a leak so i have to top it up on a regular basis but don't add antifreeze.

Hope thats it i'm going to flush it and put both in.

is there somthing i can use when flushing it to clear it out. (toilet duck). lol

Take bleed screw out, put hose into the radiator and run water through it GENTLY until it runs clear.

Do not use a rad flushing agent as this can often do more harm than good.

Drain it and fill with 50% antifreeze/water and two bottles of redline water wetter to aid cooling.

Great sounds easy enough, where is the bleed screw located?

also how do i measure the 50% mixture or do i do that before putting it in?

bleed screw is located on the top left of the rad undo so no air is trapped in the systym add the app ;) ropriate amount of water then anti-freeze dont add antifreeze first as its a bit gooey and probably block up in the pipework

I would add the appropriate amount of antifreeze first, as there is amount of water left in the block, it is the only way you can guarantee you will have the right mix of water/antifreeze.

I doubt that antifreeze would block any passages.

sorry what do i know but then i dont think it would matter what order TBH

How much is the water wetter and where from?

Do you know if it makes much of a temperature difference?

Chris.

You may have problems draining from bottom of rad.....so you will have to remove bottom hose....my water was in same condition but when i came to drain the cooling system i losened the drainage tap at bottom of rad and nothing? so i completely removed tap and still nothing so i had to remove bottom hose to drain the cooling system in the end.....

Just to explain my reasoning, there is a remnant of water left in the block once flushed that you cannot drain. If you add water first you will not get the 50/50 mix right, because you do not know how much water is left in the block. If you add the measured amount of antifreeze you know you then have the mixture right because you just top it up with water!

Chris the Water wetter does make a big difference, do a search to find companies that sell it in the UK!
