hi guys,

im sersiously miffed at the moment - seems the cheapest car insurance quote i can get is £740 - im 29, have no points on licence and full no-claims

300xz NA, import.

From posts on this site i have seen people with quotes in the £350 region, i have tried all the insurance compaines i could find recommended here but same numbers

seems bloody stupid - i only use the car every other weekend but apparently im told i cant get limited mileage unless i own and am insured on a 2nd car which is a factor in the steep price

anyone have any ideas or advice .. gonna have to get rid, i can't justify paying that much insurance on a car i drive a few times a month :(

I am currently with AON Ins Company, I have 3 points, FNCD, UK 300tt, G78(Beuriut )postcode, cat 1, garaged overnight, limited miles 5k a year....520 quid.....but i am gonna be putting a stainless exhaust on the car....Houghtons Ins Co through 300.co .uk quoted me 500 so my renewal will prob be with Houghtons in November.

I will look for the numbers and post them on if it helps...

Cheers John Crisp

cheers guys, i did try Houghtons but same figures came up. Although i do less than 5k miles year apparently thats not good enough to get limited mileage so it has to go under unlimited mileage making it almost double the cost ..

to get limited mileage i need a 2nd car as a way to prove it .. apparently :/

adrian flux did me limited mileage - as sole car.... but I'd guess you'll struggle to get your premium down with a london postcode.

thing is i didnt mind paying that amount before i moved to london as i drove it all the time

now living here i commute by train all the time and its become a weekend car etc .. and just seems crazy to spend so much to insure it just for that

i had no idea u needed a 2nd car to get limited mileage .. gutted

you don't!!!!! i just have to sign a declaration of the mileage at every renewal.

none of them explained/offered this when i have been enquiring

I'm insured through houghtons, they told me that to get classic insurance

with limited miles, i'd have to have a daily driver. They could do both for

me, as the Z would then be insured on classic insurance, so i wouldn't need

any ncd on it, this could then be transfered to my daily driver. They couldn't

take my van as a daily driver though, as it's a commercial vehicle

Still managed to save £325 with them though! :)

The reason it is so expensive is becuase it is a jap import. The equivilent UK versions are usually £300 cheaper....

I am getting quotes too at the mo, cheapest is: £580 for jap NA, 5 years NCB, no points etc, fully comp, daily drive - SDP & commuting, age 30 - from Keth Michaels, maybe worth a try...

Just need to try Houghtons now...

Where do I find my membership number??

Barry

I appreciate I am over 30 now and have full NCD but I used Liverpool Victoria. I got my insurance down to under £500 for a UK Turbo. I did get a quote for a non UK spec as well and they wanted slightly more. It may help if you are over 30 but they are worth a try. they don't even care about points on licence unless you have ever been disqualified.

i got mine to £800.90 fully comp

i'm 24 with 1 years no claims no points and my missus on it who has 3 points for speeding and 1 non fault accident which brought the insurance down

elephant.co.uk.

Neil.

Direct line, jap car, no mods (yet) full NCB nearly 40 just under 500 full comp

Bet they try and catch up on me next time though...will do Houghtons as due in October.

My bike costs me 500 quid too...ferk, its not like I'm a nutter... :x:

Mines a jap import TT, paying £500 FC, i'm 35 with 3yrs ncd.

Mods declared too! Was paying £825 with Osbournes! (IMO they are not

recommended!)
