Hi i yhink you may be talking about the ignition modular,as you look at the engine from the front of an open bonnet its on the left bank at the front (drivers side),is it an alloy box with colling fins becourse i changed mine 3 days ago becourse my car to stoped and only drove when it had cooled down. The part cost £280 from a nissan dealer in Derby where i live, they even had two on the shelf one of which i now have and car runs sweet again.Hope this helps

Is this the PTU (Power Transistor Unit) ?

If so, send me the duff one, because I think they can be fixed .... I have a theory and want to test it .....

Thanks Andy, I may have cured the problem (maybe)

Bearing im mind the Z's been dormant for 3 months.

I have taken the box off, to find the two banks of connectors were a joke, greener than charlie dimmoks butt cheeks!

Cleaned the hole shabang, thanks Mr Dremmel!

And moved the hole box & loom to the n/s wing to keep it cooler, also wrapping it & loom in reflective glass heat shroud.

Re-wireing the temp & fan sensor too.

Took it for a hard run, and all seams to be sweet again (touch wood)-a Tina !!!

So If im late arriving at the POD or on a AA wagon, nuff said frown.gif

What does your theory of a re-vamp involve,

as im all ears mate.

Thanks all, see some of you tommorow.

Where off out to get Tony Lack & his Mrs totaly trashed. LOL.

Harve,

I believe that the innards become detached due to vibration and I reckon that with a bit of careful surgery they may work again. Need to test my theory though. Trouble is noone seems to have a dead one - I think that it's usually a 'part-ex' jobbie from Nelson.

How about a Z breakers yard - me & tony are off to one very soon, shall i see how much they want for one ?

I agree with your thoughts mate, the collosal heat right there in the front cant help thats why i had to move mine, after a couple of hours hard (purposefull) driving - open road & traffic you could fry an egg under the bonnet, as for the vibration & a compact box of whats got to complex electronics, the two cant be good for parts 10 ish years old.

Mail me if you need anyother bits & bobs from the breakers.

Should you trip over a UK spec diff cooler then I'd be interested.
