Hello all, I'm totally new to the Z scene, I've just sold my MK3 Supra Turbo so I'm on the hunt for a Z...

I know nowt about the mighty Z, but after having a blast in one, the grin factor alone was priceless...

Any advice on buying would be appreciated!....

Cheers...

First couple of bits of advice...........

First, read the buyers guide on this site, tells you what to look out for.

Secondly, buy from the forum and not from dealers!!! you know the Z's have been looked after on this site (if the member has lots of posts!!) and buy searching that members name you can see what the cars history is like.. ;)

Matty.

Hi Matty, cheers for that, hows Brum?...I've been banished to Wales now...ex Brummie if you hadn't guessed

Jeez - must have been a serious crime for that punishment!:D

Have a good search on here theres loads of info and questions usually get answered pretty quickly if you are stuck. When you find one to look at put a shout out for a member in the area, I'm sure someone will help you out :)

Good luck and welcome

Pete

Brum's wet and miserable mate, nothing new there then......LOL........nah, it's okay!!

Where did you live in Brum??

If you need any help advice on Z buying let me know, I'll show you what's what......

There are a couple of well well looked after Z's on the site for sale.....

Deano's and Scoops...... ;) I'm sure there are some other that I can't think of!! ;)

Matty.

Welcome.....

Just make sure you buy a Black one, cos there the fastest...........Here we go again....

As Matty says really, look at the buying guide, print it off and take it to ever potenial purchase, iys gonna be about 14 pages worth, but thats what i did and you can always tell wether its a good un or not when you get all the paperwork out in front of the owner.

Good luck in your quest to find the Z ;)

Rich

Cheers all....was born in Bromsgrove Matty, but lived in Bournville, Kings Norton and Stourbridge was the last place

I'll probably be slated for this, but the Z's seem to be pretty cheap lately?....I'm looking at about £3 grandish as I have expensive kids and a Mrs!

Welcome.....

Welcome ...

Zed's are going cheap at the moment. There are some great Zeds around for sale at the moment and you can be 99% sure that they have been looked after and well maintained. All the people on this forum look after their cars because we are all enthusiasts and care about them a great deal.

Good luck with finding a Zed.

IMHO 3k and you want a good one? wrong car to spend 3k on and expect it to not cost a lot. Cos when they go wrong they cost an arm and a leg. Spend more buying a good one and save on repair bills in the future.

Thanks Chris,

..so just because they maybe cheap doesnt necessarily mean they are a bag of poo then?

What sort of money is 'a good one' ?

I wouldn't pay 3k either TBH. Like takemetothepub says when they go wrong they really will cost you a lot of money. I would spend a minimum of 4.5k, then again you may get lucky for less money.

Read the buyers guide, take it with you when you go to see one or better still take someone who knows Zed's with you. Will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

...it does make sense to pay that bit extra I s'pose...I found the hard way with a R5GTT that cost me shed loads just to keep the bitch alive.....anyone wanna buy a full Dimma bodykit off a R5 by any chance?

Like I said, for some reason they are going cheaper than a year ago. Scoops is selling his at the moment as is Pete Shrimp (I think) and a couple of others.

Take a look in the for sale section ....

Not too far from me then Dizzi........;) I live in Coleshill, so I know that area well....all part of the M42 circle... :)

I picked up my Z for £3k, I was lucky getting mine though.......I have spent the same again if not more (I dare not add up the costs!!) since I've had it.

I knew what I was looking for and beat the poor guy into submission when buying the Z......

I've added, 99 spec front, 99 spec rears, new radiator, all Smithy's (well nearly all) products, hard pipes and other 'bling' ;) new steering wheel, razo shifter, new leather, PTU, ICE, servicing etc, etc, etc, etc.......

Here's my Z........

Any questions ask.......;)

Matty.

...top looking motor Matty!.... :D

I sold my Mk3 Supra Turbo for one too :)

Best thing I ever done.

Rather than spending £4500 on buying mine I spent 3.5k on it and kept the rest for doing it up and repairs.

Hi Jay, hows the Z compared to the Supe?
