Hello folks,

Anyone know anything about the above model. Its not the legendary GTR but its 2 wheel drive sister.

Just looking for opinions or advice, good or bad.

They seem to go for reasonable money. Not as pretty as a ZED and not as powerful either but they don't look a bad buy.

Cheers.

Martin.

Looked for info a while back, I couldn't find anything online, they don't seem too popular with the skyline lads. around 130ps i saw on one site but there is was such a lack of info i couldn't confirm that one way or the other

slow as fook and look crap nothing like the beast gtr

Apparently the GTS 2.5T performs & handles pretty much like the s14a... & I think the s14a is a slightly prettier car.... doesn't say skyline on the back... but it's one of those things like buying a 300zx N/A then constantly thinking 'I wish I had just paid the extra for a TT' (GTS-T - GT-R scenario)

Looks wise, i agree. they're not the prettiest cars in the world.

On the other hand the R34 GTS-T has a 2.5 straight six producing 280 bhp. Single turbo. They also weigh slightly less than a Zed. Rear wheel drive. seating for 4. all the toys. (AC, HICAS, power everything, ABS, etc)

they started producing the R34 in 1998 so could be viewed as an alternative to a Zed.

not knocking ZEDS just thinking about other possibilities for my money.

Martin,

You could also try skylinesrus.com

90% of the site is information and 10% dedicated to skyline sales.

Got chatting to the owner of the company at Billing this year, quite a well respected and knowledgeable chap.

Cheers,

Hi Martin,

I bought your Zed off you. That little smoking problem wasn't turbos after all, simply a stuck valve caused by leaking stem seals.

Anyway had a blast in it for almost a year but with the other kiddie the 300 was just too small. I traded the car in to Mackays (they gave me £4k) and purchased a GTR33 in midnight purple. Minted.

I had a shot of the GTS, GTST and the GTR before committing and I can tell you now the difference is night and day between each of the models. I would personally discount the GTS if you are looking for some outright performance. The GTST is pretty good and it's far easier to lay down the power compared to the Zed, better distribution of weight. However performance wise there is no comparison to the Zed, my mate's standard BMW 325 was much quicker in my opinion.

Since running the Zed I have been using a company called The Garage out in Wishaw, Marc Light the boy who owns it is a top guy and he runs a highly modified GTST (650bhp!) and swears by it. They are relatively easy to tinker with but will require internal mods if you want to really increase power.

The GTR is phenomenol, I am loving it :hyper: :hyper:

Totally different acceleration to the 300, much more progressive but seemingly endless. Whilst it is standard just now, with a new intercooler, down pipes, cat-bypass, ECU and boost valves you can easily be running at nearly 400bhp for around £2k.

My advice is go to Mackays, they are top guys and will happily talk you through the models they have there and you can test drive as long as they think you are serious.

There is a little Australian mechanic there and he worked with a Jap racing team and specialises in all imported cars and his words to me were

"People who think the GTST and GTSs are good just haven't driven a GTR!"

It may cost you an extra few grand but in my opinion, worth every penny.

If you want to have a look at the GTR send me a PM

the idea of the engine needing a head rebuild has put me off that car at mackays no way am i paying that sort of money for a 89 zed

Hi Gordon,

Glad you had fun in the Zed and congrats on the new addition to your family !

Not really in a position to buy at the moment. Just doing my research. I've heard all about GTR's and have tosay they sound fantastic machines. ultimately I think they'll be a little out of my price range but we'll see how the savings go.

Whatever i buy it will be my only car so realiability is high on the list of requirements.

I'm looking at a number of ther things as well including RX-7, GTS-T and even another Zed.

All the best.

Martin.
