Does the Manual TT have an over-drive option?

 

The reason I ask is because i do a lot of motorway miles in my ZX and over-drive helps the car cruise a lot better because it drops the revs?

 

How about the manual version, on my auto I can cruise at about 70mph on just over 2000 revs.

over drive is an automatic option, all it does is keep the RPM lower to improve gas milage.

 

Just shift to a high gear quickly and don't let your rpm rise too high, problem solved.

...i knew about 5th gear but will it match the same rpm that the over-drive option deliversa the the same speed?

I think that the manual will be reving a little higher in top than the auto in 3rd/overdrive. If you recollect the (theoretical) top speed of the manual at 7200rpm (or was it 7000?) is about 186mph and the same for the auto is just over 200mph (theoretical again!). Therefore, the auto would be turning over a little slower at the same speed - not a great deal in it at 'normal' road speeds tho.

So with that in mind, Theoretically of course!

 

An Auto Z is faster than a Manual Z.....

 

And the manual boys call us soft for having Auto's!!

I truly believe autos are quicker!!!

 

When I had my Honda CRX VTi (manual 160 bhp) my mate is his E reg auto Audi 80 could easily beat me off the mark - no pissing about changed gear and when driving an auto you can concentrate more on the steering than the rpm!!!

You can eat yer Double Whopper with Cheese while not having to worry about stirring the stick in the middle

 

Manuals on the other hand, you are just guaranteed to spill your diet Coke in your lap as you snatch 3rd

auto - lazy, marginally slower 0-60

manual - involved, marginally quicker to 60 in theory (so long as you can change properly)....

The four speed automatic was also available in the Turbo but in deference to the auto boxes longevity, the engines power output was cut back/>

Yes, and would the aforementioned manual Z happen to have 555 injectors and T28 turbos and the Auto having just stock injectors and turbos?? Hmmmm. 150bhp difference maybe? And only a second difference on the 1/4.

 

But didn't the "Senna-esque" skill of the aforementioned Auto Z owner almost manage to lap the aforementioned manual Z after a pitiful 5 laps of Silverstone's short circuit? I think so.

(damn my misifre at trax is not a good enough excuse) and only a second cause i pulled of like a girl lol

BUT an auto box on an F1 car isn't like an auto box on a road car - ie torque convertors lose power F1 just bangs the gears in, they still have fixed drive :d
