Hello

I have tested and reset TPS which was out before it is set at 0.44 volt and rises to 3.89 volt at WOT there is no jumps in the reading just a steady increase.

But with the ignition on at between 0.8v and 1.30v while moving the accelorator linkage back and forth i hear a clicking or vibration behind the dash/firewall which is the same noise i get when the engine is running and it hesistates....if i start the engine it bogs between 0.8v and 1.40volts and makes the clicking noise until you got beyond 1.40v then the engine picks up and the cicking goes away.

Any ideas???? would i have a bad relay or control unit other than the ECU that would cause the noise and why is it doing it???

I am gobsmacked to why its making the noise with just the ignition on i naver had that on my previous Z... :x:

I would like some help if anyone knows what this could be its roughly in the middle of the fire wall this noise is coming from and its not the heater or something like that as this corresponds with the throttle and stops when i disconnect the TPS and starts when i reconnect it and only does it between certain voltages and the TPS seems to be fine unless i have a hard soft idle fault Relay/switch?

Right some ideas are needed seriously!!!!

Its something behind the dash that clicks with just the ignition on when i press the accelorator and only happens at between 1/3 and 1/2 throttle and when the engine is running between 1/3 and 1/2 throttle the injectors rattle loudly and the engine bogs then everything is ok after 1/2 throttle and before 1/3 throttle???????????

I don't know the solution to your problem, surely someone on the forum could point you in the right direction!

Andy,

The noise you are hearing when the ignition is on and operating the throttle is normal or well sort of (!)

When the tps switches from closed idle position to open idle position it operates other circuits and dependant on engine temperature and engine position (dynamically) items like the EGR valve vacuum solenoid will open, other solenoid valves will also operate like the aiv`s etc but as the engine is not running they can make a more perceivable buzzing sound than normal, as you have a running problem seemingly connected with these sounds it would be worth investigating correct operation of parts such as the EGR valve as this incorrectly working or leaking could give the sypmtoms you have, however as with all running faults on the zed engine there are usually more than one cause of the fault, trace all faults methodically and this will resolve it eventually but try not to get too down if takes a bit of time.

Good luck.

I am having trouble finding this fault. i always manage to fix other peoples cars but when it comes to my zed i normally run in to trouble .....i always have the same saying its probably some thing simple!!!!

I think that clicking is a relay and perfectly normal. I hear mine if I gently push the accelerator. It clicks just as it gets off idle. It defo comes from the dash somewhere behind the clocks.

No this is definatley the injectors they get really noisy during the hesitation then go quiet when it picks up.......i have tried every test in the manual without consult and no luck no codes nothing no vacum leaks..???? idles perfectly but thats all and when the car hesitates also the fuel pump gets noisier then goes quiet again when it picks up......????

also the fuel pump gets noisier then goes quiet again when it picks up......????

Maybe a dodgy fuel pump thats loosing pressure on the injector rail hence the chatter and flat spot. When you ign on without starting the fuel injector rail should be well pressurised, you hear it ramp up then stop when the proper pressure is reached. If the pump keeps coming back on then other causes could be linked to the fuel pressure switch. I think on start up the pressure is boosted for a short time. There is also a fuel temp sensor in there somewhere.

Fuel pump controller unit could be the cause! Its situated behind the rear passenger side panel and is known for getting dry joints and causing all kinds of fueling problems... Could also be the fuel pump on its way out but I doubt it...

I have just drained some fuel from the fuel feed to the filter from the pump and at the bottom of the container was this lovely glittery gathering of metal particals!!!!!

so i think were looking at a fuel pump as i took it out to inspect the tank interior and the tank was clean?????

Any one had a pump problem like this before or could correct me???

The ZED has only done 74,000 kilometers???
