I got one thing to say;

Thats ****ing stupid sucks ass and anyone who buys one needs shooting!

ok ok perhaps a bit harsh cause the only reason we buy em is the noise, we all know the recircs are much more efficient BUT thats just queer man not good at all.

I can imagine all the novas and corsas will soon be going round town making those noises, soon everyone will, so when that happens I think i'll remove mine.

After setting a trigger boost level through an adjustable setscrew on the vacuum pressure switch, every time you reach the set boost level,

How will a N/A car reach this so called 'boost level' ? I thought only forced induction engines had a boost valve/level ?

Either way its very sad, you would have to be a confused individual to fit one of these.

I got no problem there, I just drink loadsa stella and beans on toast, then fart at will through my zed PA system to simulate a fine set of dump valves

I once heard a kid on a forum somewhere saying he was going to try and fit an air brake system to his car like the have on lorries to make the noise, lmfao

Yours did sound quite nice at Billing as you stabbed the acc pedal to the floor- must get that MP4 clip off me phone for all to listen.

Jasper Carrott was right - just go round making pt-tschhh noises

It'll be cheaper and f*** up your engines less.

Air brakes- mmmmmm. That still brings a smile as I took a 7.5 tonner out when I was 18 and just lurved that noise. The first time me went out- I managed to paste my boss and best mate to the front windscreen of the ford cargo- dam them brakes are good me said!!

Next time i'll bring me cam corder.

Air brakes still make me look, I hear it all the time, and look around ans its a bus or a truck lol.

It is true simon mate, someone was trying to fit it on an escort mk2 convertible if I remember correctly, one of the supra guys shown me the thread ages ago ill try and dig it out.

HHHmmmm, have to post that one in the joke section! :p

possibly next little expense on me zed as when I bang on the anchors over 70, they dont sound too healthy and dont stop too well- dont wanna end up getting discs too. :(

So whats the best I can get in the way of pads on a budget?

Just pads mate? go for red stuff if you want about 60 for the fronts they aint too bad, but Z brakes are prone to break fade at high speeds anyways because of the pressure and lower surface area.

I usualy use EBC but others on here dont like em, I find them mint on my brembos.

I use red stuff, the temp threshold is pretty damn good for road use, and they are pretty sticky, tend to wear quicker than normal ones tho, anything higher than red stuff, the only diff is opp temp and they wear quicker.

but Z brakes are prone to break fade at high speeds anyways because of the pressure and lower surface area.

Oh yeh it may be worth noting that cheap nasty pads will give you fade more often as the resin used to hold the compund together in them cant take high temps and then it basically evaporates on the pad causing the film to cover the pad and then you fade.

As the Z is a pretty heavy car, and the force on the front breaks is pretty heavy, they got hot quick, so if you dont go for EBC, get one which has a high temp threshold. (if you didnt know already, if you did then ignore me ;) )

I'm not sure the above quote I said is a fact, its just what I think. My theory is that the Z calipers have smallish pistons and put pressure more on the pad in two areas, coupled with the weight it heats easy and causes the gas from the reson to spread over the pads to fade it on the disc side.

I have used cheaper pads on my brembos at one point and they still didnt fade anything like the standard Z callipers.

I used to drive 7.5's and remember "playing " with the brakes on the approach to a junction, making all the noises, which is fine until the air tank is empty..>Doh!
