Dodgy chip?

be careful as your not sure which companies maps he is using I presume that they are not his own so it could be SE it could be JWT , prob is can't be sure , speak to Chris at GetGreddy he is doing some good deals on Chips at the moment

Ryan

guy has a 100% rating and lots of happy ppl with chip upgrades, so could be pukka..

Has anyone here bought one? I might be tempted myself :) but most likely I'll buy one from Chris re: the ol' trustworthy factor.

Depends if its tuned or if its just had the limits lifted. Biggest question is have the maps been extended? If not then not much use at high boost...

Think its TTP max but if I'm wrong someone will jump in and correct me :D

didnt think the zeds had boost cut even on stock ecu's??

JD? Eric?

Yeah it does ;) It has preset parameter that give the maximum theoretical pulsewidth ;) ie max airflow before it thinks there's something wrong=boost cut (ish) LOL

Taken from http://www.ztechz.net:

7960 796F Air Flow Limiter

This is the Air Flow Limiter aka the Boost Cut J and is involved with the VQ Table. It is one the simplest and most valuable areas to adjust in the ecu. Lets first take a look at the values in 7960-7961 which are 80 and 80. These values are also read as word data so they are seen a one four digit value, 8080hex. When enough air passes by the MAF sensor - to send a 4.08v signal - which references the 52nd block in the VQ Table - which value is 8219hex the air flow limit is exceeded. The ecu will now take steps to prevent the engine from sucking in any more air. That stops our car from accelerating which trips our fun limiter causing us to cuss and possibly our wallets to bleed money profusely.

Now may I suggest you edit your signature? :D LMAO ;)

But in a way I was wrong also ROFL

ok, cool. that is quite handy to know.

quite a few people report the car just holding back at higher speeds. a good check would be to read the AFM voltage either by conzult or simply with a volt meter at the ecu whilst driving! :)

not strictly a boost cut tho, is it? you could still hit high boost pressures down in the low - mid rev ranges

But thats exactly how most boost cuts work lol. Boost cut defensers simply clamp the mas voltage just before it hits the limit for the ecu ;)

Best turn leg pulling mode off now eh ;) LOL

bit pants then, arnt they!! :D

still a good diagnostic step learnt from that tho mate :)

Yeah they're actually a bad idea. The ecu will start to lean out the mixture as the revs rise since the mas will still seem to be reporting the same airflow. Another point from that is it also makes an afr completely useless, or vise versa depending on which one is last in the harness. (The afr increases/decreases the mas voltage to alter fueling).
