fitted an apexi powerflow kit at billing at the weekend thanks stev-o for the help getting that arc shopping trolly air filter out

2 things how come i dont get any nice chattering or whooshing sounds, sad i know!the apexi doesent sit directly infront of the mesh on the front bumper. So i take it maximum airflow doesent get through the apexi!

Also do you get any benefit from fitting extra pipes from the bumper to the cone gueesing even more colder air will pass through the filter

thanks for any advice greg

Thats an odd one matey.

AFAIK the induction chattering is when the TB's close off and the pressure has no where to go, hence it creates pressure back on the compressor which will create turbo stall. The pressure stuck between the intake side of the turbo has no where to go as it cant go forward and through it (as the TB's are closed and then pressure is forced back) so this pressure is forced out of the induction and makes a chattering noise in the process.

However, the Z has recircs, so I am assuming that a fair amount of this pressure is passed through the recics and into the breathing system of the car, eliminating pressure near the induction.

I've never had an induction without bovs on the Z as they were fitted to jay's car at the same time. But I assumed if your running high boost, some would escape through the induction when you shut off? A few of my prev turbo cars have also had recircs but under high boost I still got the chattering from the induction kit, the 200sx sounded like a beast but that was a typical set up to make that noise as it had no recirc (s13).

Go for some turbo XS like mine mate they sound mental :D

HTH

p.s did you suss what boost you were running matey?

you will still get as much air as the car needs positioned where it is. if it sat right in front of the bumper grill you would have problems with water getting onto the MAS

And paul C is spot on, dont chop the weather guard up as you will get water on the MAS and it will die in no time, under boost the induction sucks anyways, so the ambient air comming from underneath is fine.

You could always duct some more air to it if you wanted on the far sides of the weather guard but I wouldnt bother if I were you.

The bottom of my induction is in a half cut away box enclosure to stop water and crap getting on it, as I had probs with water getting in and and rusting the steel filter slightly from the back :O

oh yeh forgot to ask, is it going any better now mate? you should notice its a bit better specialy seeing as you have an aftermarket zorst :D
