2 screws for the top cover, look from underneath. Then it should be a case of undoing the mounting bolts for the cluster and removing it (I think, may need to remove some of the surround etc but don't think so from memory)

Hang on, scrub everything past the bit about 2 screws for the top cover :D Once thats off you should be able to see the convertor box just thrown on top of everything ;)

Yup :) And some wire cutters/soldering iron if you're bridging it out ;)

I'm gonna have a go at fixing it (I'm an electronics engineer) it's intermittant, is it removeable or is it ward wired in ?

They have 1 +ve feed, 1 -ve feed, and an in/out for the speedo signal. Simply find where the speedo feed has been cut and the convertor spliced in ;)

had a look a few mins ago, all the wires were twisted together and tapped up. Soldered all the 4 wires together and heat shrinked, took pcb out and soldered all the components, still being intermittant, coul it be another dodgy wire connection to the clock itslef ?

any ideas apreciated

It could be the sender itself which is mounted on the gearbox, or possibly something in the speedo.
