Hi Gary,

You got my email then

I did get a quote to have a new matrix fitted and it was about £300. You might be able to get it done cheaper though.

I know some of the guys on here have done it themselves if you do a search.

Cheers,

Dean. :)

emailing u back right now mate think u might have sold ur car

I did mine a few weeks ago mate - absolute bitch. However, if your car is a manual, it is even MORE of a bitch.

Good luck.

hmmmmm how much did it cost u mate

been looking into it aint getting very good vibes back  :(

Nothing - i did it myself.

Is yours an auto?

i was thinking of buying one, real cracker but it need the heater matrix done

and its an auto

i take it you mean that you have not bought the car yet?

Hhhhmmmm, I take it the owner is using this job as a kinda trade off? If so, try and find out how long its been like this and how many miles he has done with the matrix gone. These engines can be quite sensitive to water loss.

from what i have seen on past posts he has posted been run like this for a few months

up to you but that would set alarm bells off in my head. If he doesn't get a job as important as that done, what else is he niglecting to do.

Apologies if it someone off here but you can see where I'm coming from.

radweld sealed mine up

The matrix is easier on an auto (on a manual it is easier if you remove the clutch assembly, it gives you more room) but it is still a fair old job. A new matrix will cost you about £100 from courtesy nissan in the states, and to fit it first time I would give yourself a whole saturday ( and leave the sunday free incase you get stuck, bored, p1ssed of and want to leave it for a bit :)). It is easier, certainly for the first time, if you take the dash out (this is not as bad as it seems, I can take mine out in about 40 mins) as this allows you to see what you are doing.

As far as the water loss goes, if the heater was bypassed when it started to leak it sahouldnbt be too much of a problem, if it was run while short of water you should be careful tho . HTH

**** it then look elsewhere

Hi Cos,

How are you, well I hope...

The car in question is mine and as soon as the leak was spotted the matrix was bypassed with no real water loss. Has run perfect since, just no heater.

You were right to point it out though.

Cheers,

Deano.

I would say it was about 6 months ago :( anyway why do you ask

Just curious!

If the car has been this for 6 months and you have been using it as normal, then I would probably say that there is nothing really for an prospective buyers to waorry about. Apart from getting it done that is.

Apologies if I cost you a sale. Again, just out of curiosity, why don't you get the matrix fixed? Second hand ones go for about £50 and if you do it yourself, the labour is free!

Cos,

no probs mate. :)

I am now considering getting the matrix fixed, don't know whether it is wise to fit a used one though. :nono:

Cheers,

As long as you test it before hand, you should be ok. Besides, yours is an auto so it should knock about 3 hours off the total time. I'm sure you will be ok but if you get stuck, give me a shout.

If I attempt to do it myself I will ... ;) Cheers mate.
