CHECK YOUR BRAKES!!!!

Hi guyZ,

After investigating a grinding noise coming from the rear under braking, I have found one of the pads to be completely worn out frown.gif This would have been the first part to check anyway but......

The reason I have put this post up is because from a quick glimpse everything looked ok - the outer pads had around 8mm on them.... On removing the inner pads as well the problem became very obvious:-

..and just to show the wear properly:-

As can be seen above, only one pad wore out severly. I think this was caused by the twonk who had my car before me fitting cheap crappy pads..... could have been a stone getting between the pad and disc and exploding the pad but seriously doubt it wink.gif

Be warned - always good to keep an eye on things and the brakes are one of the (if not the most) important parts on a car wink.gif

Bloody hell And, that far left pad looks like it's brand new, you sure that all the pistons are working OK??? wink.gif

If your rear disks are warped can it make your steering wheel shake under heavy braking or is that only if the front ones are shot?

That is weird - never seen anything like it. I can't imagine that even dodgy pistons would do that. If a piston was that knackered, it would knock the disk out in no time.

I can't believe it but that looks like someone changing pads but not doing the whole axle at once. Unbelievable !

Who's more shocked? me or you lot??? biggrin.gif

It did cross my mind that one of the cheaper garages had maybe done a bad job - the pad may have been stuck but NAFF excuse!

Anyway - the calipers check out perfectly smile.gif Is there a phew smilie??? Will have to fit new pads and keep a very close eye but be warned guyZ - all it takes is a pad to weld to the disk and your visiting the roadside scenery frown.gif

CheerZ,

Andy
