What can cause a lot of grey/white smoke from the exhausts?

It smells a bit oily to me and it looks like a bonfire from both pipes.

Is there anything I could have plumbed in wrong that could cause it?

Where do I start to find the cause?

i have a similar problem with mine especialy if i havent driven for the car for a few days and yes oily/fuel type smell but clears after a 5 min poke and doesent return id like it cured to.

im no expert but i did see a article saying that grey/white smoke is sometimes fuel regulator i want to know what mine is to

grey/blue smoke is oil, white is water, black is fuel.

Have you checked all the PCV's and hoses to make sure they are tight.

I take it you compression checked the engine before you put it in ?.

With your clutch problems have you actually driven it yet?

If not i wouldn't worry about it.

See what it's like after a proper drive.

Chris, mines doing it, ive checked everything and all i can think is my turbo seal is going..bit embarrasing when i'm at the traffice lights and smoke pours out the drivers exhaust!! but i would say its either the pcv's or a seal mate??

I havent driven it yet but I've had it running for about 90 mins in total and sat with the revs at 3500 for 5 mins a few times and the smoke is as dense as smoke can get - you can see it blowing down the road for a good 100 yards :o

The car is out of MOT and I can't really take it for a thrash until the clutch is fixed and MOT'd.

It's running fine but I can't tell if the problem is overfueling or oil somewhere.

The turbo's have just been fitted and are meant to have done less than 1000 miles. They looked brand new.

If I fix the clutch and take it for a spin in this state I'm gonna get pulled.

What's the MOT situation when its' like this?

book it in for an mot with a local garage, if ity is booked in you are allowed to be going to or returning from. Doesnt say naywhere you need to turn up tho :)

Yep that's an idea.

Book it in for 2pm and go for a nice long drive there, take the long route, leave at 9am

z's don't like thin oil (fully synthetic racing oil) as per your spec's sheet, chnage oil and filter, try 20w50
