Bloody hell Mike, talk about going all the way!! You diddn have to get in your chopper and take the birds eye view one for me!!!!! LMAO!!!!

Only messin mate, thank you VERY much for confirming that I am doing the right thing in ripping my spoiler off very soon.........

Your car looks VERY nice.......thats how nissan should have made it, without the spoiler...

Thanks again Mike....

...Mikes car is not spoiler-less. It's got a skin over the original spoiler-less metal to hide the holes etc that removing an original spoiler creates.

...keep looking.

good luck

Jack

The other thing I would do is junk the rear wiper - Im doing mine over next few nights, makes hell of a difference.

Im just gonna bung some of that rain-x on the rear screen

I cant see shit out of mine anyway coz of my spoiler!! :)

Yes mate thats going too, no wiper for me!!

Jack, yout right mate, wheres the Twin Turbo bit gone?!?!?! Need to have that bit!!!

I do have one problem though, my UK car has rot inside the inner lip of the boot lid, do u think this is repairable ot should I get a second hand tailgate and work on that!! I intend to slave over this!!! :)

...if it's got rot thats come from the rear spoiler ie outside, I'd be wary about fixing it. Once the old spoiler is removed the resulting lack of weight makes the rear hatch open real quick - watch your chin. And whats more important is that it takes a lot more to close it. Now I have to slam mine down harder than when the wet spoiler was slamming it down for me.

When I removed the spoiler I fibreglassed over the inside of the 4? holes that it left then filled them etc before painting. And now, 6 months later they are giving way. I'm sure this is because of the extra force needed to slam the tailgage shut.

So if you've large areas of repair, you might be looking at long-term trouble.

In a scrapyard recently, the owner asked me what I thought the tailgate off a 93 grey TT (with intact spoiler) was worth - he was going to ask £150 for it... Might be your best way forward.

good luck

Jack

It has a skin, but it certainly isn't a spoiler, I would consider it spoilerless, if you've seen the ammount of crap under a stock UK spoiler thats been shagged for 2 years you would defiently go for the skin. Infact I prefer it with the skin :), you can buy new twinturbo stickers if you want, I prefer not to have them on there at the moment.

My taigate came away with the original spoiler, it needed extensive welding.

Rainex doest really make much of a difference on the rear window either for me, works wonders on the front windscreen though. I may remove the rear windscreen wiper one day, but ill also remove the arial at the same time. I wasn't 100% on the decision so I left it there.

Mike

...not surprised the tailgate came away with the spoiler. Mine took all day to remove. I had to chop it into 6 pieces with an angle grinder. There were only 4 bolts holding it in place AND some black goo - that was the problem.

The cars a 1990 Jap - so the tailgate metal under the spoiler was ok...

good luck

Jack

while your at it Stu, take off that horrible front bumper and throw it my way ;)

I'm also thinking about taking the spoiler off of mine !

Im thinking about a wingswet rear bumper :D

Nice wee mix of different Z's there with the Spoiler removed

No wonder we havent got many SWB's or Convertible's in this country, there all over there!!!

Stu, I think your car would look awesome without the spoiler mate, at the end of the day, take it off and if u dont like it, put it back! I know it aint quite as simple as that but then u get the choice...... :)

Spoilerless all the way for me....and a wings west bumper, skirts and rear bumper too....... :) :) :) :) Cant wait!! Now wheres that new credit card, sure I left it here somewhere........oh, and red is growing on me, not so sure I wanna join the "Dark Side" now...... :nono:

Mark, how about this then......it's what you get when you take yourafter-market spoiler off, before your new OEM one is ready to be put on :D

Do you like the 'Plasters' look ? ;)

spoilers sh@#$ged on my 90 jap-so to the bin wth it!!,as for the holes i'm gonna mig em up, slowly though as not to distort the gate.

BTW dave is the rear perspex panel on your car a z-centre item??

  • Author

Thats it Dave, spot on, that exactly how I want the rear of my car to look, obviously without the tape etc etc.....

Tis in the back of my mind that its crying out for somet though??? Mmmmmmm.....

I guess once its gone, then I can think about getting one on if I change my mind.

...go for it. They look great...
