Boost controller install info please!!!

I am due to install my new HKS boost controller on saturday and I need some help. I have found some install info on TTnet about how to install an Apexi super AVC-R. Does this have the same plumbing as a HKS EVC4? Could I use this info to install my boost controller?. How long would it take to install a boost controller?. I would be grateful for any help guys

Cheers

Thanks for that Trey. That will be very helpful on setting up the controller once plumbed in. Does anyone know of any write ups on how to install the pipes? The instructions I have ask if the turbos have an internal or external wastegates. What do these cars have? (sorry to be thick on that question!!). Does anyone have a HKS EVC4, are they good?

Internal wastegates..

And at a rough guess, the instructions on TTnet about the Apexi install should be pretty much right for the EVC4.. Although I can't say for sure, not having seen an EVC4 before...

Az

Yep. Its pretty much the same as the apexi.

Depending where you position the stepping motor you will probably need more pipe. I put mine at the front next to the air filter and needed twice what i was given.

Good luck. Paul.

Simon mate,

I have no idea but I do know two pairs of hands are better than one, oeeer naturally smile.gif

If you are still at it on Sunday and want someone to come around to your place and stand there looking bemused and saying inane things like "hmm I wounder what this thing does" and "what happens if I press this button" then Im there!!

Seriously mate, I work Sat (Im self-deployed), but I wouldn't mind offering any help I can, even if it is just having another Zed there if anything goes wrong. I have lots of gizmos on my car that I cant even figure out so maybe I got one of these already LMAO! smile.gif

Glen.

Also Si, I met a guy with a Black Jap TT Auto/Cloth today, he works at the Tyre place just opposite the entrace to Newport golf club (by the river), sound fella, only had it two weeks and seemed clued up smile.gif - told him to get his ass down to 300zx.co.uk and meet the posse!!

All the best mate and have a great and boosted-up weekend smile.gif

There are altogether too many smilies in my previous post.

I should be driving a split screen VW Beetle and not a Zed.

LOL

Am gonna be gettin one of those, one day...(sigh) :D

I nearly bought a Beetle as a project car once (got the GT Turbo instead.. Er.. I know! Just a bit different).. Do love 'em.. Yes, crap.. Yes, impractical.. But they have spirit smile.gif

Oh, and you can drop a TypeII engine in (2ltr), add a turbo, a bit of fettling..

And oh look, it's a ridiculously quick Beetle!

Cut the roof off.. And it's a convertible smile.gif

Replace all the bodypanels with fibreglass..

And bugger me it'll shift!

Thanks for all the help Guys!!

I took out the uni-chip on friday (that was a fu**ing nightmare. Not quite as straight forward as unplugging it unfortunately!!

Fitted the JWT chip and it runs very well and drives very smooth. However I started to install the HKS boost controller on Saturday with out much luck. Some of it was fairly straight forward but I was worried about were to connect some of the pipes (and chickened out!!!). Well pissed off but will get someone with a brain to install it this week, I can't wait!!.

You were right about the pipe Devil, they do not give you nowhere near enough. Thanks for the offer of some help Glen. Perhaps we could meet up for an hour or two this weekend. I have seen a few more Zeds this weekend on the Island. Both black ones, both turbos and both did not respond when I flashed them (lights that is!!). I don't think I can handle having such a common car on the Isle of Wight LOL. Not really, it still seems to be a very rare sight down here. I will keep you informed of my progress

Seez ya!
