After seeing another thread about a "fuel pump that sounds like a wasp" im a bit worried if mine aint gonna get me ta Billing! Should it buzz, mines not loud but it makes a lot more noise than my Audi's and the pitch varies too :(

Also ive heard that if the fuel pressure aint right it could bugger a piston

am i worrying too much or should i change it?

My fuel pump was quite loud but buzzed like that for 3 years or so! I only relpaced it as a matter of caution (eventually!).

Thanks James for putting my mine at rest, theres so much to look out for on these motors i think im gettin paranoid! :D

Thats not to say yours won't die alot sooner - you just can't tell. AndyZ will have one I'm sure for not much money if you are worried.

Get a pressure guage onto the fuel line before the filter - that's all that really matters. And, yes, if the pressure is wrong then you're going to have problems. The specifications and procedure are in the online-manual.

I would want to listen to a few more Zeds for comparison before assuming mine was failing, i believe they all buzz but only to such an extent that it's audable before you start the engine. If you can still hear it once the engine is running, they you may have something to worry about.

If you're running your car on a limited budget, like i am, then i would look into changing it as insurance, but not before other more important things, like timimg belt!

Try to step back and see what really matters most. Consult your brain and not your heart! - Anyway, that's my approach!

Best of luck, life, and Zeds.

If you open up the filter, on most injection cars, its miles of paper, the only way to check it is to renew it.

Sorry to worry you mate...mine is LOUD...hear it at the Turpin on 11th if I havent replaced it. should put your mind at rest!!

I do have minor probs at the mo with the car 'stuttering' a little and have read that this might be an issue (amongst other things!).

Can hear the pump above the zorsts and reckon it is all over for it!

Best way to check filter is to do a temporary bypass....my pump is ferked!!
