Just got back from Glastonbury and two min after walking through the door six coppers come to search my house for FIREARMS!!!!

WTF!!!!!

I have a very low powered CO2 air rifle and a blank firing revolver. Both of which they took away for checking.

Had to go to the staition and be interviewed on tape. After that they tell me the blank gun is a prohibited weapon!!!!

I am scared shiteless now that I'm gonna be put away for a toy gun that has never left the house!

And another moan was i asked them to call my girlfriend as one of my rights for them to inform someone where i was and they didn't do it!

Yea I am:D But if it were real you would be make no mistake! I have a firearms and do have a licence for it,however If I was out shooting and forgot about some ammo I left in the glovebox and it got discovered by a Policeman doing a spot check,I could go to prison even though I have a licence.

They don't mess about with firearms,so I hope for your sake you have not done anything stupid with it.

it sits in the house and never moves, I dont know where the hell all this has come from.

Listen mate the Police don't just come round six strong and do a search,I reckon you have showed it to the wrong person.

still shaking and cant sleep. I thought blank guns were fine to own, all gunshops and fishing shops have them.

Even asked about them to gunshops who said they are fine. Now I'm told cos it can be converted its illegal!

gawd knows how you could convert it, the whole thing is made of Zinc and is very brittle, the barrel has a bar molded into the middle of it.

I feel sick I'm so worried.

oh take me to the pub it was only recently i got arrested for shooting a firearm across a public highway, in other words i was shooting at some beer bottles across a road.

Luckily it was only a co2 berretta so got banned from using a firearms for 5yrs [harsh] infact it was a country road which IMO wasent dangerous but emmerdale thought so ;) your b ok ;)

You will be ok M8,I've been around guns all my life. The Police are just going through the motions as is the norm where firearms are concerned.I defo would not loose any sleep over it.I opened the door once to a pos'e from the armed responce team complete with machine guns and dogs.Great bunch of guys.

the only other issue is if the co2 was of the type that uses the gas and pellet in the one "cartridge" as these are now banned, cos some silly muppet made the "cartridge" the same size as a 9mm cartridge. As said above, they are over re-acting to everything gun related at the mo (understandably) need to be careful who you let run around your house bud

What had you been up to Vinz? ;)

The blank should be ok unless it has been converted, if it has been converted probably looking at 18months - 2 years.

The air rifle should be under a 12lb pressure, if it is over 12lb you may get fined and banned from owning for 3-5years.

Someone would have grassed you up unfortuently,

upset Ex-GF in the last 3 months?

Think I know who it was, at my BBQ the bloke that came to do the PA for my band stored all his bags and stuff in my room, where the gun was on the desk, can only think he has seen it and gone to the police not knowing what it was.

I still cant believe that it's illegal to own a decomissioned/blank firing pistol? I mean ffs fair enough if it has been converted. Ridiculous. This country is stupid about guns.

I got done when I was 17 for firing a crap air rifle at cans that struggled to penetrate cans. In the middle of nowhere in Scotland. It was a forest and technically a public place. Police patrolling walking down a path heard me and my two mates and walked towards us, we were firing into a cliff face. :( they confiscated my rifle and I got fined £150 (a lot of money to a 17yr old in 1988 :( ) And a criminal record that said something like 'firearms act section 22'

Well now you know who it was tip the police of about his drug dealing and see how he likes getting raided. Dont give your name an they will still be obliged to follow it up.

well take it from his perspective - i take it he does not know you - yet you may (may) do the same thing in his shoes - thinking it may be a real gun and reporting to the coppers just in case. im sure youll be fine mate.

yeah, I dont have any probs with it being reported, he was only doing what he thought was best. (if indeed it was him).

I'm just pooing myself that with all the bad gun press lately they might want to make it known replica's wont be tollerated and try as hard as they can to stuff me. Not every day you have every nook and crany in your house pulled open and searched, then dragged to a staition.

At least the place has had a good clean now. The only worry I have for you is the manner in which the Police are making examples of people over fire arms. Its funny this but I was only talking to a guy the other day about how they sent a couple of lads in Manchester down for 6 years. They only had those replica Beretas. There's been real sh1t about it because 1 is only 16 but they did have them in their pockets.

Only joking :slap: They'll confiscate them and give you a *****cking.

here are the gun laws

Readily convertible replica firearms

2.17 As indicated in paragraph 2.2, a firearm

is defined at section 57(1) in the 1968 Act

as a “lethal barrelled weapon from which

any shot, bullet or other missile can be

discharged”. The 1982 Act extended the

provisions of section 1 of the 1968 Act to

certain imitation firearms. Therefore, a firearm

certificate is required to possess, purchase or

acquire an imitation firearm which:

a) has the appearance of being a firearm to

which section 1 of the 1968 Act applies;

and

b) is so constructed or adapted as to be

readily convertible into a firearm to which

that section applies.

2.18 Under section 1(6) of the 1982 Act, an

imitation firearm is regarded as readily

convertible into a firearm to which section 1

of the 1968 Act applies if:

a) it can be converted without any special

skill on the part of the person converting

it in the construction or adaptation of

firearms of any description; and

b) the work involved in converting it does

not require equipment or tools other than

such as are in common use by persons

carrying out works of construction and

maintenance in their own homes.

Guidelines on the 1982 Act

2.19 Guidelines have been issued which

advise on the technical measures that can

be taken to prevent an imitation firearm

from being readily convertible into a lethal

barrelled weapon. These guidelines are

intended primarily for the gun trade and are

available from the Gun Trade Association.
