Jacked up my car over the weekend as I was sorting out the excess oil in my car and noticed the the bushes on my tension rod looked a very worn. I know my car has a bad judder, but thought it was the discs. My question is whether to change the bush or the whole tension rod. I know the bushes are cheaper, but isnt the tension rod a DIY job and wouldnt this then make it a cheaper option then getting a garage to fit a bush only?

Anybody know how much a tension rod costs and anythig that would make is a non easy fit?

Tension rods are £129 EACH from Nissan.

Poly bushes are about £45 I think and any local garage will be able to fit them in an hour or two.

aNYONE, WITH A BRAIN AND A PRESS OR LARGE VICE MAYBE CAN FIT THE BUSHES IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES, sorry about the caps locks. £10 in their pocket should see it done.

no brain, no vice, no press.

fook im stuffed then

Yeah just remove the tension rod with the old bush still in and take to with the new bush to a back street garage.

i expect most of you know this little trick whereby you clamp your tension rod in a vice with old bush still in use a large long bolt with large washers at one end place through centre of bush, place a nut under neath tighten with a spanner and presto it should press bush out if warn enough

repeat procedure putting new one in with the aid of ky jelly :p or fairy liquid ;) surprising what watchin a lot of tv does
