following in kirbz footsteps :duffer:

Engine is just about finished just the sump and the plen to put back on with any luck it should be back in the car this weekend.

The engine has been totally rebuilt using wiesco pistons I have also put new valves, springs, lifters and manual Cams in along with every oil seal gasket and rubber hose that the car has

The crank has been balanced , surprisingly enough even the under drive pulley was not properly balanced from the factory

The heads were off by about 2 thou so these have been matched so that they are equal the engineering shop also did a 3 way valve angle job on the valve seats

Here are so pics of the progress so far

Those that can afford the choice go and have fun while some other poor b4stard struggles.

Those that carn't afford winge on about how its a labour of love etc but, I know, because I've spent those weekends removing my knuckles in the cold, dropping that washer down the cam belt channel into the sump just as your about to put the head back on.

No thanks Guys your welcome to it I'd rather work harder at what I'm good at and earn the money. You have my knowing respect but there's nothing honnerable in DIY. Just think the money you've saved. Her in draws will expect those saving every time. Rod and Back spring to mind

Mark I earn enough to buy Macs rebuild 4 times over every year so would have no problem in paying someone , I just hate to pay someone for something that I can do myself :) money is not the issue its knowing that you have not been ripped off that counts

Looks good mate, those heads came up superb, give me a shout if you want help sticking it back in the car on Sunday.

Dont think it has anything to do with getting ripped off TBH Why would anyone use the company you work for and not do it direct?

Why would you sell you house through an estate agent?

Why would you pay to stay in a 5 star hotel on holiday when you could sleep in a tent on the roadside for free?

Etc etc etc

Got to agree paul ( for once :)) I knew a fair bit about cars, but nothing about zeds when I bought the NA, learned a lot working on that, and now have learned a lot about the TT. No better feeling than rebuilding something and firing it up for the first time :) And while I am waffling many thanks to the people including Ryan who have helped me out over the last few months.
