I'm off the Amsterdam for a long weekend to celebrate just turing 30.

Should I propose to my girlfriend who is coming too?

I do like her a lot but I'm not 100% sure. I've been with her 8 years now!

Those of you who were married... were you totally sure it was the right thing to pop the question?

wot does marriage mean nemore ? - most end in divorce , so not a guarantee u will stay together.

besides, marriage was designed for women only.

Personally I think its really sh1t that were meant to stay with one person for th erest of ur life!

U should be able to sleep with whoever u like, whenever u like, excluding family!!! :)

Listen Good

.... Prostitutes are much sheeper and do it how you like when you like.

.

Is that a Welsh Freudian slip??!?!?

as my mates tell me

the worse vice is advice!!!

only you in yourself know what you want 8 years is a long time, but are you happy with her and in love???

always good to talk to someone but in the end its you who has to live with the desicion!!!

stay single and lonely like me LOL!!!!!! :duffer: :duffer: :duffer:

Proposal is a word, whilst marriage is a sentence.......a life sentence in fact and if you want parole it ain't cheap!

Seriously, you would kinda just "know" if she is the one - especially after 8 years. If you love her and have enjoyed the last 8 years and could happily continue for the next 80 then go for it.

I proposed to my wife in Paris after a year together and we hadn't even lived together at that point. We've been a couple for 8 years and married for 4 and I don't regret a second of it

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

ok i think i need to put a womans point of view across...

we are not all like the women you are talking about :nono:, yes the ring is a symbol but not a "ball and chain" as some of you seem to think

regarding those of you who want to sleep with as many women as you want then that is upto you, but not all of us feel the need to

they dont all end in divorce, and some of us women do have jobs and therefore have money of our own to spend, however dont get me wrong yes we do llike to be bought things but that is only becasue it shows that you have been thinking of us.

just dont forget the ring

I was going to propose with a plastic one, then let her pick her own from a shop out there.

Apparently diamonds are cheap in Holland.

:slap:

TBH darlin you have been with her eight years should you not

know what jewellery she likes? Just trust your instincts, if she wears a lot of silver buy her white gold or platinum if not buy her normal gold and preferably one with a huge rock in it!:D

For some women Marraige is a career path, next year is leap year let her ask you!!

Or do what my mate did register all his property as being owned by an offshore company, strange how they go off the idea divorce when they find out!!!!!!

Do I sound bitter, maybe because I have seen too many men go under!!

Mate, do it!. i proposed in Amsterdam to my other half. without sounding soppy it's a really romantic place to do it!! I get married on the 10th JUly. :duffer:

 how the fVCK can you get married and drive a z think off all the work you can do on the motor well not alot!iv got 2 kids and a lady so its $pensive any how so wedding a while off yet get married in 7 days :p

sorry old joke i bet!!

if ya love her. mary her.

And take my word for it, any ring will make her smile. If she dont like the ring dont mary her, thats the advice from my grandfather.

I gave Tracey My great Grans engagement ring, not all that compared to some but she cried so the old boy was right.

8 years, blimey, i cant think of a relationship that ive had thats lasted longer than 8 weeks!!!

It's not my fault all the women i meet cant keep up with my huge amount of sexual stamina, and die of exhaustion. :)

I'd give advice, but with my relationship history it would only be the wrong advice.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

Too true.......

I intended to propose to my wife in Paris and bought the ring about a week before. I kept it in my jacket pocket all weekend, ready to propose at dinner one year to the day after we met.

That morning we were walking along the Champs Elyses, browsing in a few shops. As we looked in a jewellers, Julia saw a particular white gold solitaire diamond and said ".....if we ever get engaged, that's the sort of ring I would like......"

You know, it was identical to the one in my pocket that I bought in London earlier
