Castrol Magnetec

Have come across a good deal on Castrol Magnetec from a slightly dodgy Nissan dealer

£10 for a 4.5 litre can!! if I buy 10 now that is cheap,I changed my oil again today ( Charged me £12 for a single can) as the debate about fully synthetic oil been too thin has had me thinking that maybe a synthetic base oil is more appropriate for the tt engines and as I have done some recent upgrading (JWT Chip, boost etc)

I have lots of trade contacts and this is by far the cheapest price on Castrol. The guy told me how they sell it for that price and I was gobsmacked, all I can say is never take any car to a Nissan dealer for an oil change!!.

Not teaching you guyZ how to suck eggs...but just double check it's the Magnatec for "Advanced Modern Engines" and not the basic engine crap.

superguy.jpg BUFF MAN 300ZX SUPER HERO!!!! or is that DUFFMAN????

Same as goes in mine I expect. Fully synthetic 10/50.

As I have just got mine, and as the rear seals on one of my turbos may be going - does anyone think that changing the oil a few times over the next 5k miles is going to cause me any problems or is it the case that the more carbon and sludge out - the better?

I suspect it will make little difference, may even make it worse. Just use good oil (not too thin) and hope for the best. But if it's really going then it's just a matter of time - start saving ! frown.gif

Cos mate,

Right I may not be that with it this morning and you may have already said in previous posts...

a) what oil are you putting in at the moment, this is important.

I would suggest trying Magnatec which is not fully synthetic but an excellent oil in my opinion. I ran this in my last two Turbo cars and the main dealers used it for servicing aswell. Saab and Toyota.

Just try it and see what happens, at worst it can only make things better than they already are with it being slightly thicker in viscosity!

My 2p's worth

P.S. either that or take Kiwi's advice on the other thread, that's what I'd do if it was me!

If any of you guys are a member of Costco (Large American Wholesale Stores - Scattered around the UK - www.costco.com or www.costco.co.uk) check out the oil prices there.

Price Examples (inc vat):

Magnetec - £12

Chevron Fully Syntectic £11....(any good ??)

Mobil 1 - £25

A reason to buy fully synth would be that it's less likely to coke up the turbos than non fully synth.

I also think it was said it protects the engine better when starting from cold, when most engine wear occurs.

I second that Costco recommendation. They also do bloody cheap Goodyear tyres.
