Am i in trouble ?

Think the engine/turbos may need looking at...pulling away from a roundabout up to about 30-40 and then floor it, the lights from the car behind show me I've just left a cloud of grey smoke as the box kicked down and the turbos got going......do I need to be worried ? just a little smoke in the cold mornings, nothing at idle once warmed up, performs and reaches top boost easy enough.... help put my mind at rest???

Yeah, mine does the same, just for a second or two. Doesn't do it if you're thrashing it, just briefly if you've been meandering around for a while, in traffic etc. One of the theories is that it's blowing out loads of crap from the exhaust and a bit of gunge that gets in the turbos. I'd guess that that seals are starting to leak a fraction.

Sounds like we could do with negotiating a group price on Turbo rebuilds at this rate! Bloody things!!! Andy, speak to Pete about yours and ask him if he'll do two for the price of one and I'll chip in half towards yours...LMAO! biggrin.gif

phew, slightly leaking seals I can live with as I know who's driving the car from now on in, the eventual repair bill is not quite so attractive - guess that the breather kit mentioned by Johnny is a good idea to take some of the pressure off.....

Don't worry, spoke to Pete about it when I first noticed it about 15-20,000 miles ago ! It was him who gave the diagnosis. One thing I have noticed is that it does it slightly less (I think) since I swapped to the JWT ecu. That could be because the fuelling is slightly leaner and so there's less soot in the exhaust to blow out.

He he the words in timmys post are a secret encryption for aone expensive visit wink.gif
