Well it wont be coming from Japan. I it will be made in Europe or the US as they can make cars over 280PS. Mitsubishi EVO made a few versions over 300bhp and got round the laws by making them in the UK. Maybe they will do the same with the 350Z

In the US they seem to like supercharging them, cant remember where, but in the states there's a club with 350z's in, all supercharged.

i'm suprised nissan didnt give the 350z more power, they must of known it would get compared to the 15 years older 300zx tt.

I think I read the 280PS 'agreement' was ending this year anyway - pretty sure it was in EVO mag as they were going on abaout the next generation skyline, NSX replacement and new Supra all having 400bhp +? I'll see if I can dig it out later.

Are you saying that although Japan can't sell a car with >280ps they can't MAKE it?? The UK for example has laws stopping the selling of penetrative porn, but lots is made here, same for hand / machine guns can't sell em, but they're still made here.

Besides, what about the Mitsi evo xx with 400+ horses?

Well, with regard to Superchargers ...

There are at least 3 options that I'm aware of, currently all being talked about by some of the 350 boys ...

1. Middelhurst are doing the Stillen Supercharger for round about £5k (I think), which reputedly ups the power to 370-ish bhp at 0.5 bar, without an intercooler, somewhat more with it, but it's serious extra dough. Also, you lose the strutty in the front, and need to have a hump in the bonnet (which looks fine if you go for the new bonnet with integral hump, but horrid as an added on bit of plastic) ... one of the guys on 350zuk.com is having this fitted as we speak - so looking forward to hearing how he gets on! One big advantage is that I think it's compatible with the Nissan warranty for 12 months, since it's a Middelhurst jobby.

2. Vortech do a nice kit too, one of the guys on the forum already has one, and reckons it's superb. According to their website it raises the US power from 287 to 412 bhp (flywheel), but I'm guessing this must be the intercooled version. I think this runs at 0.7 bar, and comes complete with piggy back fuel computer etc, etc. I believe this is being touted as the best conversion available in the US.

3. There's also a kit from a company called "Procharger", I think - but I don't know anything about it.

As you may have guessed, I'm taking more than a passing interest in how these guys get on, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to procure the sign-off on a project like this, especially as I'm just about to get made redundant!!

Still, one can but dream ...

CheerZ,

JB.

Sorry to hear that John, but like they say one door closes.... ;)

They knew, but they didn't give a toss. :D
