hi guys, not meant to be a dig or anything, but why is it that you guys have a superior V6 engine to the RB26-DETT and have trouble/have to spend so much money to get anything close to the Skyline? ;)

I think people are willing to spend more money on their skylines due to the rep they have about an indistructable engine, so they take em further......

never driven a skyline myself (would'nt say no though)

Anyway I think we should draw the thread to a close!

Considering it was started by someone who took the absolute piss out of the forum funds, by sending the dodgy server he sold us, back repaired, taking six months to do so, in an old tea crate with no wrapping, and suprisingly enough it smashed itself to bits!

I have had both a 300zxTT and now a GTR33 and prefer the GTR. Both have good points but for a good adrenaline rush i prefer the 300, this is only because the Skyline feels more stable at speed and handling and therefore requires being pushed alot harder before you reach the gut wrenching feeling. For mid-range the GTR will leave a Z standing, 80 mph in 3rd then open it up and you won`t stop. Skylines are cheaper in the long run to mod, 400bhp can be reached easily for £600.00-700.00 if you shop around. Mine will be going to Johnnys soon and will be over 500 for under £2500.00.

If you haven`t driven one try one, i loved my Z and was sorry to see it go, even though the Skyline doesn`t have the looks of the Z it does turn more heads.

LMFAO :)

for a long time i wanted a fast Jap import.

top of my list was always the R32 GTR Skyline followed by a Zed

the R32 GTR is a great car (but on an everyday basis who gives you a second look)

unless you know about cars it is an old Nissan

a good zed turns heads everywhere. everyone wants to know what it is.

it is a fantastic drive it has it all, looks, rear wheel drive V6 engine

the skyline is part of the "the car can do it all for me brigade" eg high power evos & scoobies, there at the limit handling is very hard to find and when you loose it it goes big time!!!

the zed has it all, you have to be able to "drive".

4 wheel drive - how many tarmac racing cars are 4 wheel drive?

Skyline owners..........

 i think we're gonna get some serious incoming from the 'line boys now!!!

...and just on a final note from me... if SkylineGTR-Dave asks why a 3.0 V6 TT isn't as fast as his 2.6 6pot TT, then get him to ask why the new Scooby STi WR1, with a 2.0 4pot single-T has a 0-60 of 4.2.......... should wipe the smile off his face ;)

I have this same argument up my local every thursday night.

I have a mate with a 911 turbo porch

and one witha 365 ferrari boxer

one with a 328 ferrari and one with a 928 porch

We get onto this subject of super cars nearly every thursday and they say mine is not a super car!!!.

But mine is quicker than the 328 and the 928 on par with the 911 up to 155  but the 365 boxer is always off the road being reparied!.

My argument is if those so called super cars cant catch me why are they super cars and the z32 is not!!!.

cheers

Dave

I like my z for what it is ,mine . don't care if its faster or slower, better looking or not, I like its faults as well as its good points. but its best point is, its sitting in my garage ready to scare thef8ck out of me when ever i feel like it

Getting back to the original "Why do Skylines out perfom the Z32?" Well the answer is, they do and they don't. Anyone with enough TIME and MONEY can modify their car to what ever power they want, and that's what it boils down to really, TIME and MONEY.

where can I get these ROFL, ROFLMAO LMFAO keys for my keyboard tummy tirbo? :D

Hi Bob

We had this converstion about 2 weeks ago when I rang to ask about getting the black Jacks of my alarm. I knew if I kept the R33GTR I'd kill myself before I ever got the enjoyment out of it, but the Z can scare the crap out of me everyday and if I do loose it I've a better chance of living.

I love my Z and don't think it is a cheeper car to own than a skyline at all. My Z to date has cost about £25,000 over 3 yrs + Optimax and Esso Super.

Skylines? Been there done that and I can tell you the Z is far more involving and therefore more rewarding to drive and I could aford a Skyline. Noble next when new house finish, but the Z will stay.

Back to the quote that new cars are getting faster and faster, it seems the small ones are but the big ones are getting slower. Look at the new nissan z slower than the old one. the rx8 slower than the rx7 etc. yep the hot hatches are far faster year on year and will probally be blasting past us down the dual carridgeway before we know it. it the rate things are going the 2010 mazda 121 will probally be quicker than the 2010 RX10 (probally be a MPV by then)

I didn`t say they were cheaper to own i said they were cheaper to Mod.

CHUNK, nice to see another mature owner, at least i have learnt something, with Z`s being so cheap they are the next step for you Nova boys.!!

Each to their own at the end of the day, you can buy a Z for 3K then spend a fortune keeping it on the road or spend 15K for a far superior car which will last for many years. The first Skyline was out in the early 70`s and has evolved over the years just like the Z. Saying the Z is 10 years older than a GTR33 is *****cks, you can buy a 95 Z and a 95 GTR33, it`s just the Z hasn`t kept up with technology and thats why the Skyline is more advanced. It is easier to drive at speed and handles far better. in wet and dry. 90% of the time it is a rear wheel drive car, only when is senses a loss in traction does it become 4 wheel drive and then only to the corner that needs the traction. Don`t tell me a Z can handle anywhere near as well as that with technology so far behind.

Bob

Well, they can't be that for ahead of z because I have killed 2 skylines in my short time as a z owner, way before this thread was started http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=23740 and don't say they were a GTS or GTT ! :)

hmmm must have been gts's or a stock gtt

Tell me a car which is updated every year, year on year. There aren't any. All cars are based upon the technology from when it was first designed and released. You get up dates but there are only to change the problem parts or to make the car cheaper to make. There are very few differences between a 95 Z and a 89/88 Z (a few where released before 89, apparently). The electrics is a little different and the injectors are too, but essentially it is the same car.

Cars only get serious updates when the whole thing is scrapped and started again. Like the R32, R33, R34, they dont even have the same chassis or body parts.

The Skyline R33 has got 6 years over the 300ZX. Put it this way, when the Z was released the 486 was the the talk of the PC world and was still months away from being released. The fastest home PC you could get was a 386 with a Math-Co-Processor.

When the R33 came out, the Intel Pentium was out and the P2 was less than a year away. That is what technology does over time.

I'm running high boost and mod filter. I love my Zed.

If you are going to compare them try doing stock vs stock. If you have 2 cars with the same power then up the boost and do mods to it WTF do you expect. I`ve seen VW Golfs do low 12`s with shit load of mods, does this mean all Golfs are faster than Z`s or GTR`s? Plank

Stu, they all use the same engine, apart from minor changes to Cams, Tubs etc.

I'm a plank am I? Well you sound like the typical Skyline driver. The Skyline I killed, try to move into my lane to stop me overtaking him. What a sore looser, skyline owners just can't take defeat! Me on the the other hand, I will acknowledge it if I get blown away, which has never happened yet :)

I will acknowledge it if I get blown , which has never happened yet

You need a good woman :xxx:

ZX drivers NEVER get blown away! we just keep raising the boost, or blow our turbo's trying!

And if you own and DRIVE a Z, you'll always have a Good woman, or even better, a “Bad” woman! ;)

gimme gimme gimme ;)

skyline skoda cum lada r-31 GT-shit

Okay okay in the 80's the Zed was a supercar.

So is Super Unleaded a world beater then bud coz it's called Super? PMSL :)
