hi guys, not meant to be a dig or anything, but why is it that you guys have a superior V6 engine to the RB26-DETT and have trouble/have to spend so much money to get anything close to the Skyline? ;)

The Z32 was a supercar in the early 90's. Todays supercars are all 500 to 600hp twice what the z is and cost over $100,000. But give me 20 grand and I will equal the performance of the modern "supercar".

 

 

Supercars are not put in the category for its power alone. Also once a car is a supercar can it NOT become a supercar years later? What about a Ferrari 288 IMHO is the best looking Ferrari ever made and by Ferrari enthusiasts is said to be the best Ferrari ever made. At the time of its release it would have been a super car but its stats nowadays are not too impressive. But does that mean it is longer a supercar? Is a catagory of a supercar respective of what it was like when it came out or what it is like compaired to now?

 

The Ferrari 360 is 400bhp, is that not a supercar because its less than the 500/600bhp?

you can buy a lot of cars for 10k and then spend another 20k that would not only own a z but also be a lot more reliable.......and lets not try to stray too far from the league a z is in.......its defo not in ferrari or lambo territory and anyone who says it is delusional.....the z was aimed at high end 911 or bmw of the time and in this sense it did perform to expectations and then some but here is the shift in expectations z owners then beleived it was a ferrari or lambo killer something its never gonna be.......in its class the z is unique and will be so for a good few years yet but 20 years on its bound to have youger cars nipping at its heels.......you are never going to get back what you put into the z as the depreciation is now hammering them yet at the same time the cost of parts isnt which is the only thing that will be the z's doom.....its cheaper now to maintain an old porker even a lambo than it is to carry on with a z and thats not fiction

 

I have to agree with you that the z is not in the same league as ferrari or lambo. But I cant think of any cars you could buy for 10k and spend another 20k on mods that would "own a z" especially rear wheel drive cars. As for cost of parts for the z well they are coming down all the time especially with the help this excellant forum and second hand parts. Also there are many more specialists on the scene now concerning the z in-fact another one has not long started called ztech which I believe is excellant. True you will never get back what you spend on moding cars, but who cares? I dont ecpect to get back the 1 grand I spent to get my car another 100hp!

Why do Skylines outperform the Z32?......because they have a better engine for getting more power out of and a bigger engine bay to stuff go-faster bits into. :mac1:

Oh yes and if you want a truly powerful modern 4x4 performance car then get a VW WR8 In standard form it along with a list a mile long is more powerful and would wee all over a Stage 1 skyline GTR.

Half of this forum don't even own a Z! They just come here, ignore the search and FAQ sections, ask endless picky questions, give the impression they would rather LEASE the car so they can give it back, then disappear never to be heard of again. :slap: :rofl:

FFS this is rediculous :rolleyes: The Zed was never a supercar and never will be! FACT! Any car that comes out of Japan will never be a supercar!!! A 300ZX Z32 is a GT plain as.... end of...

 

The car is simply too refined to be a supercar - get over it :rolleyes: Carpets, Aircon, Stereo, heavy plastic trim covering everything, SPORTS suspension (NOT racing), the list goes on and on. There is no definition of what it takes for a car to be a supercar but there are things which make a car NOT a supercar - and sorry guys but the Z just has far too many.

 

YES it CAN be made to have supercar performance, but once again, sorry, that doesn't even make that a supercar. I love my Z, I wouldn't change it for any other car, but at the same time, I'm under no illusions as to what class it belongs in.
