What are the qualities of a good intercooler?

As far as I can gather!

 

1. Reduces the charge temp

 

2. It has minimal flow restriction

 

3. It is not so big that the air will take too long to fill it.

 

All of these have to be kept in balance obviously but are there any other factors?

    Element and fin design.

    You want to keep the pipework as short & striaght as possible ideally. (more lag/restirction the longer they are)

     

    Where you put it, IE in air flow.

     

    the bigger it is the more lag but it's not a big deal.
