Im sure there was a thread on here the other day about driving another car on third party only insurance ! However i cant find it.

Can anyone help me, my mate has 2 supras - he wants me to drive one to a motorshow on sunday and he's driving the other.

Problem is the one that im driving he's no longer insured on - but he still owns it ! Am i allowed to drive it Third Party Only ?

Im sure on the previous thread someone said that you could drive the car - as long as it was just OWNED by someone else !

If someone could link me to the thread or just tell me the score i would be greatly appreciative - thanks guys

IIRC, if you have full comp ins, you can drive any car that does not belong to you as long as it is insured already! (subject to policy)

id check with the insurance co to be sure

If you have full comp, and the other car is road legal ie: taxed and Mot'd and you have the owners permission then yes you will be covered for Third party only...

If it is stated in your policy you can drive other cars on third party.

Chop, i drove a car registered to someone else for a year.

It was uninsured by anyone and i drove it third party covered by my own fully comp policy on my car. I got it in writing from the insurer too.

Trouble is the car wont be covered for fire, theft or damage when you're not actually in it, but then again i guess it wouldnt be anyway if the cover is third party only.

Best to ask your insurer to be safe i reckon.

I would be careful i used to work in unsurance and unless certain insurance companies have changed then the other car HAS to be insured elsewhere for your own insurance to cover you third party only but thats not to say there maybe other insurance companies that have changed their policies??
