Anyone know how to get round this one!

After the Z passed it's MOT, I decided to then take the Rover to the same place seeing as the owner also had a Z(Silver SWB manual 37k miles - VGC).

Anyway, all was ok apart from the emmisions. He tried and tried but could not get the CO below 0.6 and it should be 0.3. Decided to try running some injector cleaner through and also do an oil change. Apart from changing the plugs, can anyone suggest any other options. I am trying to avoid changing the cat so that I can get another year out of it.

I have heard that there is some cat cleaner you can run in your fuel but I've never seen anything like that before.

Cheers

Cos

Hi Cos

There is a product called "Cataclean". I've never used it and when I mentioned it here some months back someone stated it was advertised by "dodgy scousers" on some shopping channel.......

....However I read that a Jap tuning company north of the border (Calder Racing developments) use it with some success.

Maybe worth a try? ;)

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

LMFAO, that would be me then!!! class yeah it is on some shopping channel with that twat who was the original qvc geezer, they use it on his knackered old rover convertible.. and hey presto everything is now fine!!!!

if the CAT is fooked, i know of a company that does aftermarket ones quite cheap. they even do a "universal" one that you can weld/clamp on once youve cut the old one out IIRC!! :D

ps if the cat is fcuked then dont waste youre money on any "magical CAT restorer"!!!

I've been told from a tester you've got to get the cat hot before you give it to them, give it a good pasting around the block then get them to do it!
