Fan Belt Change

I have the annoying screech when I pull off on a damp start (about 15 to 20 seconds) and I need to get it changed, ASAP!

How Much?

Where's best to get one from?

Can I do the job myself?

It it a nightmare to do?

About time I tapped into the knowledge on here instead of taking the pi**!

All help appreciated!

Is it knackered, or does it just need tightening ?

No sense in buying a new one if all it needs is 5 mins with a spanner. Course if it's been there for 10 years and is starting to crack .....

AndyP,

How do I go about tightening it?

(clueless)

Actually, somebody posted instructions a few days ago. Do a search for say, the last week, and you should find it.

Ere' we go. It was Jeff :-

12mm spanner left hand side as you look at car just back from the rad underneath after under tray removed,,loosen locking nut slightly on alternater adjusting bracket and tighten the centre bolt checking the belt as you go then re-do up the locking nut.Makes perfect sense when your under the car looking at it ...as were not at the moment it probably sounds like babble.. Jeff TT

I got big kerbs round my way, I will drive up one so I can get underneath, and take a peek.

Ramps are tricky under the front - the spoiler is too low. I use a couple of planks if I only need a little clearance, but you need to be dedicated with jacks and axle stands to get it off the ground properly. Or you could dig a pit of course ....
