OK - I'm taking the inlet manifolds off (as many of you know already ), and I'm contemplating getting the injectors ultrasonically cleaned & balanced (I'd upgrade but a) stock turbos so no point, and b) I can't afford a grand on injectors!)..

 

Do people have any preferred places for this? Is it worth risking damaging them getting them out of the fuel rail to get it done? Or just leave well alone?

I do Ultrasonic work for a living but unfortunately only on 4-6 ton Aluminium plates, could always get a portable hand set and do them, no problems

What about your nearest Lucas centre? They're fuel injection specialists so I'd have thought that they offer that service.

Hi Az, I've been recommended by two people of have them U/S cleaned.

 

However, since I'm getting uprated turbos and have to avoid pre-detonation at high boosts, I'm considering the extra expense of buying the GTR 555's. so....(question for the wider audience), how do I tackle the ECU's MAP for the stock injectors?

 

Also, on the Mine's website: (http://www.prospec-ms.co.uk/merchandise/electronics.html), they have uprated Air mass meters. Is it recommended to replace the stock one, and get the ECU remapped to suit?

Simon - mind if I ask how much the GTR 555's are costing you?

 

BTW - you'll need a different fuelling map in the ECU for 555 injectors.. I don't know of anyone who's gone to an uprated MAF, but I do know a lot of people run either dual POP/single MAF or dual POP/dual MAF (both require special ECU maps)...

 

JWT do maps for all those setups BTW..
