Hi Guy's,

I currently looking to buy a 300zx Manual TT can anyone tell me the things to look out for? I have heard the gearbox's can sometimes be a bit flaky, but if you could let me know that would be great.

Cheers

you dont want a manual, you want an auto, a nice blue zed, id recommend a K reg , excellent vintage, maybe with sensible mods such as a greddy profec e boost controller , maybe a chip , maybe with uprated suspension and nost of all you want one with 12 months mot. If your intersted let me know, i might know someone ;)

I’m in two mind whether to get a manual or auto could any one give me a helping hand on which one is better.

It makes no real difference in my honest opinion......

Manual - loose boost as you change gear......

Auto - No boost lost through entire range as you don't have to change gear (so to speak)

Manual - more involved which can be good, not around town, etc......

Auto - lazy man's gears!! I have an auto and I love it!

:D

All down to personal choice (obviously!) but I'd have either......no difference in overall performance.

Matty.

According to what I've read and popular opinion is that the manual is 0.2 of a second quicker on the 0-60 and thats about it & what Matty said.

you want an auto!!! do you want to buy one? cue dodgy music and pocket watch swinging from side to side... u want an auto... u want an auto...... wheres darren brown when u need him!!!!..... u want a blue auto... much cheapness.......

Oh yeah, forgot to say.........

Scoops car is well worth the money......

:D

Matty.

if you decide to start modding it:

Manual box will handle most mods you can throw at it once you uprate the clutch

Auto box will need a fast road rebuild for up to around 400bhp or so, after that convert to manual anyway :D

I have heard that there is some problems with the Auto Gear Box and they always need replacing. Is this true???

Scoops have you got any pic of your z

HI

good luck with your search for a Z

You may wish to consider Import or UK as well (insurance)

I had an auto and loved it!

If you feel you want to change gears get a manwell! Its a personal choice

that sounds like your scoops !! what a coincidence !! :)

0-60 for manual TT Zed is 5.6s

Auto TT is 6.0

Reliability wise, auto & manual are about the same. If you get an auto then you'll need to put a bigger transmision oil cooler on it.

If you get a manual and you want to start increasing boost etc then you'll have to uprate the clutch.

having had the auto i would say i liked it but also having owned one i would have to say an auto is much weaker as well and a true nightmare when it does break especially if you get an import and all of the supposed second hand sellers of these gearboxs are nothing more than highwaymen so you end up paying stupid money to get a broken one recon'd....if you can try to find a uk spec manual that way you wont get slapped as much when something does break which it will

Well from what everyone has told me about manuals and auto's, I'm going for a manual.

Sorry Scoops, and before you say it I an't doing a conversion.

I just need to find a Z300 TT Manual for sale now..:hyper:

shame, my box was reconned about 10000 miles ago.

even though youre not interested.... in the words of the legend that is Jim bowen... lokk at what you could have won!! lmfao :hyper:

Cant believe standard auto is 6.0 0-60 :nono: Besides, show me one manual driver that can actually achieve the quoted 0-60 time consistently and I'll show you 10 auto drivers that can do it every time

They dont stay standard for long though :D:D

I'll show you 10 auto drivers that can do it every time

well, untill it needs a tow truck anyway  :p
