revs rising

After driving then sitting in traffic for a while my revs will rise from 750 to 950 rpm it was ok a few weeks ago could it be the temp sensor which was bought new may last year?

    The revs go up when the AC is on, perhaps to bump up the cooling fan as well.

    The revs go up when the AC is off i was just wondering if its the temp sensor, it does it more when the weather is hot.

    But has only been doing it for about a week and a half,and i just have the feeling its the temp sensor.
