Well, at 23.25pm tonight, I finished the heater matrix job. Amen!

For those of you that have done this on a manual car without taking the dash out, God blesha'!

However, while I was at it, I cleaned the bulk head and plenum, got rid of some PRFR pipes, cleaned the throttle boddies and adjusted my dump valves. However, unfortunately, I didn't get round to test driving it to see if the DV's are any louder.

Nevertheless, tomorrow night, I will be doing so and also testing the voltage going throught the coolant to see what's going on there.

Things that have p1ssed me off on this job!:-

Screwing the clutch bracket back in place and then realizing that it has to come off again so that the clutch booster folk that attaches to the pedal, has to go on.

Putting all the venting back in place and realizing that I have not put the HICAS and ASCD sensors back.

and generally loosing random pieces of flesh from my face and hands due to the pedals and other various sharpe pieces of car.........

............but apart from that, it was great.

PaulG - yes, the pedal will defo have to come off so that the booster can come out. This is because the pedal bracket is actually bolted on to the booster. Have fun!

Cheers

Cos

Nice one Cos!!!!!!!!! Glad you sorted out those problems yourself. There is a great sense of achievement when you D.I.Y. isn't there?

Cheers,

Rob.

Yep - however, although I did leave the car to tick over a bit, I didn't get chance to do a proper test drive so will know tonight if I need to pull it apart again or not.

Just out of curiosity, I have also decided to remove a few bits and bobs like the PRFR and various other bits such as the counterbalance in the hatch, and various other bits to see what much weight I can actually take off without it actually affecting the use or performance of the car. Sad I know but after all, we are Z owners!

Cos do you mean the PRVR ?.

I.e plastic canister that sits in the passenger wheel arch and leads up to a relay by the battery ?.

I take it you have decatted. if so have you completely removed your AIV's (including the tank which sits behind your side repeaters in the wings)?. These weigh a fair bit.

Also when you say you have removed the weight from the tailgate, does this mean you have also removed the rear wiper and motor as well ?. If not then this could cause a problem as over time the tailgate could start to flex slightly which could not only misshape the tailgate but also lead to things like spoilers etc cracking. A guy I spoke to at SE totally wrecked his tailgate tub by removing the weight in the tailgate and not taking out the wiper motor. I'll send you some pics on MSN of the damage it causes over time.

PRVR! Yes that's the one. No - I haven't decatted! Why?

As for the weight, I have the original foam spoiler that is very heavy and I have had the weight taken out since early last year and not had any problems as of yet other that the spolier just being old. TBH, I will shave off a shite load of weight when I get the rear spoiler replaced.

In that case it may have just been a crap installationof his tailgate tub .

If you haven't decatted than you will still need your aiv's I'm not sure how well the car would run with Cat's and no aiv's. Anyone tried this ?

yes - me! I have had the PRVR bypass for a few months now and I can't really say that I have noticed the car running any differently! Any idea what symptoms I should be looking out for?

you are confusing me now Cos. I said in my previous post "has anyone still got cats but no AIV's" then you replied yes me - I've not had my PRVR's for a few months now . Do you still have your AIV's ?

btw, this is all the stuff that I removed from my car, some of it was upgraded and other bits were just binned.

sorry mate - what I meant is, I have had the PRVR bypass for a few months now and I also have my cats and AIV's but have not noticed any difference in performance.

HT clearer.

the PRVR will not effect performance, it will only make it harder to start when very cold (apparently) still starts fine with mine.

same here - phew! glad we cleared that up.

I thought you meant that I would have problems if I did the PRVR bypass and left the cats in! Nevermind.

Will be ripping out the remaining pipage in the arches tonight !

After all the conversation we had yesterday about the car having problems starting because of the PRVR, I went to start her last night after I got in from work so that I could take her for a test drive and she was having problems to start. Oh no I thought, I gonna have to put it back....and then it dawned on me, I had done a TB clean the night before and hadn't fired her up to clear all thecrap out.

Anyway, went for a test drive and the DV's are definately much louder. Needed to adjust the clutch pedal a bit but that was no problem. Also took the drip trays out from under the wipers, smoothered them down and respraprayed them. Lovely job.

However, the main reason for the test drive(heater matrix) also appeared to be successful. I guess time will tell. Never got round to testing the coolant voltage so I might do that tonight or tomorrow night.

Taking her to work today so wish me luck

Well, after sitting in traffic for 25 minutes and driving for 30 minutes, she did not miss a beat. Happy so far!

DV's are much louder now but I still think yours are louder. Any idea how many treads are visable on the adjuster screw on yours? I have opened mine to 4-5.

erm I'm not sure tbh mate, do you also have the HKS SQL's ?.

I'll have a look later this evening and let you know.

actually I just found this pic on my seite. I haven't adjusted them since.

How goods your eyesite ;)

SQL's? mine are SQV's! are they the newer type? do they have a different tip to mine?

...and my screws are out further than yours by 1 thread.

It sure is Greg :D.

I now have an electric fan so I have lots more room and quicker spool up ;).
