just looked at Autotrader prices and they ask at least £1k more than on there, yet cars here tend to hang around for ages unsold.

yep- me was wondering that too.

I bought out of the autotrader for 4k and it turned out to be a real dog.

Just wish I found this site first as could have got a good motor for 3k which probably would have had everything done on it and possibly plenty of mods.

I am tempted to see if I can get 4k back for mine, then get one from one of the lads here, but you kinda get attached to your own

because people here have no faith in there cars and certain people undervalue the cars.

Personally I think my car is worht 6k and wouldnt sell for less.

the running costs have alot to do with it im sure... sure get a nice minter for 5k, it'll be 10-15 years old and it'll most likely cost a packet to keep on the road. From what ive seen and read, they are not cheap cars at all!

Still, wont put me off buying one, but I'm setting back 10k for the car purchase, few small mods and some money for a bad day. Would hate it if I'd bought one and it ended up in the garage for 9 months of the year...

I think main reason, is that most members find the site once they already have bought the car.

Barry.

yep once people arrive here they have already bought their motor

so those who advertise are selling to very few, auto trader/ebay has the whole country to go at and many thousands

as MikeGroves says some people know what they are worth and the work they have put into them, would be good if maybe you could get this site into a search engine somewhere when people are trying to source a zx, lol a weekly entry in the trader paid for by the sellers, the link would take 'em to

a lovely collection:)

I must admit I wonder why everyone on here is an IT fruit!!!

I feel all isolated

oy! me an IT fruit and yea I should have searched 1st, but I had no clue there was an owners club back then- have always driven boring cars and saw zeds around and thought - I want wanna them. Then you get so wrapped up in the autotrader- you just dont see the light. I spent 3 months scouring the autotrader site and look what I ended up with

Still I aint ya typical IT geek doing that since school- I've done building site work, driving, plant hire, shopwork, sales- you name it. But an IT pay packet helps to afford the zed costs and you get to chatup totty ;)

you cant sell ya Z for another m8, u have a responsibility to it to bring it back to life at all cost :)

Not to worry. I'm currently an aircraft engineer. I know nothing of IT

You are right Obey One- I will use the power of the force to cure the dark evil of my crap autobox, dodgy engine and scratched paintwork

Can i have a job please? Just finished my third year in aeronautical engineering Meng? :D

why would we buy a car we already have and love. thats why they are on here for ages. shame cos most of the people on here realy look after their cars.

IT work may pay well, but seems a lot can't find work.

Actually I did hunt around for advice online first & was regged & got the advice before I bought. Although I didn't buy a forum car owner :(

But then again thanks to the advice on here I did manage to get two Z's for under £3500 (granted one has a shagged engine & the other needs a bit of tlc, under tlc in the dictionary read :- spend lots of money on : applies to women & cars)

I wouldn't say it's that well payed anymore. I have been in IT for 10 years now and some of my friends who are contractors are now taking 50% less than 5 years ago. It boomed then bust but is picking up at a steady rate again.

I second that, IT doesnt pay anywhere near as well as what it used to.

In fact, I still believe £25K isnt a bad salary, its the fookin cost of living thats the problem!

With rising fuel and house prices, were all gonna end up living like tramps!!! :(

I aint in IT and carn't think of anything so dull. :x:

but on thread I have to say that the quality of the cars at the Midlands meet I went to was far superior to what is generally advertised in Autotreader. There are cars on here that I think are worth a lot more than their owners value them at.

I been lucky and had 2 steady contracts over past 3 years. A hell of a lot of ass licking, but worth it as it has kept me in :duffer: And also a tatty zed to show for it. Lets hope me keep another 3 years of work to get her in shape :)
