Anyone been in a Zed with these on?

Was in an R32 skyline that GPS built with them today, and TBH it was fekking awsome. Not too laggy and mental top end. Very impressed.

Just wondering if on a Z with decent manifolds it'd be similar.

only heard good things about these tubs, a lot of people in the states use them and quite a few are being built at the moment with the inconel manifolds, so some numbers should be floating around soon. :D

have a word with nend - i think he is runninng them

i banking on the fact that the pentroof 16G with the 6cm2 housing will have an equal spool up and better top end than than the 2530's. I think that is without the tubular manifold though on the HKS.

A good comprimise might be the PE1420's on tubular manifiolds - not quite as big as the 16g but bigger that the 2530

Not after anything big, I'm a back-road pilot so 16g's etc are no use to me. I think you're right, the 2530's don't come with manifolds, but Alunox are jigging some up on my spare engine at the minute, so should be ready if I ever get round to buying tubs.

Not really in the market at the minute, was just out of curiosity. Are PE1420 really bigger?! I can get sport 530's very cheap, so was probably going to go that route if I ever decide to upgrade.

Be interesting to see what the americans get from them in terms of response.

John this guy claims he has driven a Z with HKS and TD05...................................

I've had a chance to drive both Z's with the GT and TD,s. TD 05 are not laggier then the GT2530 in fact they spool up very close to stock and yes the manifolds do crack so you need to reinforce the welds on the exhaust manifolds. And as for the rwhp# you are right on 550-600 rwhp. Both turbos also have different spool up characteristics GT2530's have a very snappy kickin and the TD05 have a smoother spool up. Both to me seem to be good for everday driving. Like Fastdriver said you need to know how much HP you want then choose the turbo that best suits you.

Cheers. I'm guessing without the manifolds TD05 would be much worse, so 2530 with manifolds should be OK. Looking at the dyno charts on TT net, I think close to stock might be an exaggeration.

The problem for me with big tubs is more the on/off power lag than the spoolup that you get if you just hold the power on. On some cossies with big turbos it seemed that if you lifted it took an age to get boost back, even if you were in the band where they were already spooled up.

Hi John,

this is the thread on TT net which finally decided me on the pentroof turbos

but since the proof of the pudding is in the eating i will have to let you know when my engine is put back togeather.

Interesting read, be good to see what it's like when you're finished.

The manifolds Leon's doing should be similar to pentroof so the gains from them should be comprable.
