Hi All,

We have progressed through our first year of becoming a club and so we are approaching the membership to see what you want to do?

In this first year we have done most of the hard work and assembled the chassis, mechanics and bodywork together, so that we have an up and running club. We now have the fine tuning to do and the fun part, driving it!

Basically the committee are approaching the members, to ask are you happy with the committee as a whole and would like to see them carry on managing the club for the next 12 months?

Or do you want voting to take place for each committee member?

This poll will close in 30 days and this poll is confidential only two or three technical administrators can see who voted for what?

If it aint broke .................... ;)

I voted yes on this basis :)

I also share the opinion of some others regarding the election of the committe, but I see no reason not to let things run as they are another year first and hold a balot in 2005

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Are we actually an official club? Reason I ask is that I recently joined the MR2 Drivers club who supply information about Articles of Memorandum and Association which I know all about when I was self employed. Basically declaring the fact they are a company etc. Registered with Companies House, so in theory, if we keep ploughing money into this so called CLUB and it all goes pear shaped there is nowt left for anyone!

So my question is this...are we an official club or just a website that requires subscription to keep the site going?

I must say that what I got through from the MR2 Drivers Club was impressive, monthly magazine, dealer disounts on servicing and parts etc. Club parts at discount prices, clothing you get the idea. So are we going the whole hog or are we just suspended in limbo with the subscription system which is basically not providing for a proper club, just paying for bandwidth for the forum which we all had from day one anyway. ;)

Hi all,

I reluctantly voted no. I'd be happier voting for a question that was more like

"Do you want the opportunity to vote for or against the current committee?"

The current question is phrased so as to make us feel like we're ousting the current committee, and I don't think that's right. It could just as easily be phrased

"Do you want to give up the normal democratic process and let the committee do what they like?"

Which is equally partisan.

Anyway - I definitely want the committee to be answerable to the subscribers, as I'm sure we all do, so in all likelihood I'm just delaying the re-election a bit, but I'd rather do it that way! Anything other than a "no" vote here is effectively a straight re-election.

I'm unhappy with the handling of the j.e.f.f. affair, and I'd like the opportunity to vote for someone who might be a bit more transparent about committee decisions. Otherwise, I'm absolutely delighted with the club and the actions of the committee. You folks have a tough and often thankless task (you notice I'm not rushing to become a committee member), and you do it really well. Thanks!

The construction of questions regarding voting is a science but unfortunately the committee haven't got the time to sit down and formulate question construction!

The forum isn't a source of free information, and is held legally responsible!

Here is the club statement regarding what I believe you are talking about, in the latter part of your question!

Wow, took me a while to read - clearly some unhappiness there. Still, looks like the vote is to keep the committee as is, which is fine by me - at least it's democratic!

So it looks like you're no longer a committee member Mark. How come?
