We want tax cuts/freezes, but also want better public services/lower crime/schools/hospitals/roads/trains etc. etc.

How can any party offer BOTH the above when they are mutually exclusive ?

So we get a party who lies to us saying we can have both, then we moan when we don't get both, and go for the opposition who promise the same all over again.

Very boring IMHO :nelson: Who concurrs ?

No, it IS possible to pay lower taxes but still get better hospitals/schools etc... it's achieved by the cunning strategy of DOING THE FUGGING JOB PROPERLY!!!!!! :slap: :slap: Not wasting VAST amounts of money on stupid non-essential pipe-dreams, quangos, incompetance and ADMINISTRATION! Did you realise that out of every £1 that we contribute to the NHS, that 70p of it goes on ADMIN!?!?!?

Do you know there are more middle managment jobs in the HNS than there are beds. So, 1 bed takes 0.05 doctors, 0.2 nurses and 3 managers to run. Get rid of the managers and spend it on nurses, doctors and hospitals.

We also pump billions of £ into the European Union of which we see little of it back. Also 90% of all the money which goes into the EU just disapears. There has been refusals for 3 independent audits to find where thousands of billions of Euros go missing every year.

Schools where meant to get extra money. The goverment gave the money to local councils but the schools never got it. Where did it go? Again the multipul layers of middle managment.

True, but u expect the Tories to do things differently ?!? - the things you say above were practically INVENTED by the Tories !!

My point is that NO government seems able/willing to make things run more efficiently. So it ends up like I said - higher taxes or more money into services (even tho' not always with a corresponding benefit as u say)

There do seem to be more people job-dodging which really annoys me - I thought they were clamping down on the work-shy benefit brigade ? :nono:

How do I get to be one of these unnecessary middle managers?

How do I get my hands on the EU dissapperaing cash?

I wouldn't mind it if I was the one with my 'hands in the till'. But I'm not.

Did you not see that program about 3-4 years ago about this so called "crack down" on benifit fraud?

Labour get most of their votes from working/lower class / lower income people and they would lose millions of Labour voters if they seemed to be coming down hard on lower class/lower income people, basically the people who brought them into power.

So not to alienate these voters they put their cracking down fraid adverts in news papers like Rhe Gaurdian, Telegraph, Times, papers whos readers probably only contribute to 5-1% of benifit fraud. They also put adverts on the television at times when programmes which appeal to upper class/ higher income people. Like Mastermind, documentries and such, and they didnt put it on at the breaks between the football or Corination Street/Eastenders was on. These "Adverts" then became less of a "We are going to get you" message to the people who commit benifit fraud, but more of a "We are getting them" message to the people who dont commit fraud. Then of course, no on gets got. The people who commit the fraud, still get away from it and keep voting Labour becuase they are on easy street, and the people who are in 2 minds vote Labour becasue they think Labour is doing something about it.

Politics is a very dirty thing.

And if you are wondering where the Tax is going, its going into every school child. £30 a week to stay in school and then they get hammered £3000+ a year to goto university.

This really is NOT a political matter, it is a Bureaucracy matter, Politicians can't change it, to do this we the people have to wrest control from the Bureaucracy... this bureaucracy relies of acquiescence, if we stop being so acquiescent then that will make things change, if you even think that a politician or political party will do this then you are not thinking clearly.

LOL...Politics. No matter who you vote for they WILL screw you one way or another!!! Well, at least with labour, the economy is doing OK. But this does allow them to pull in more taxes of course.

Don't get me started on public transport, british manufacturing industries etc...

You just have to choose the least rotten out of a bad lot...and then they send the country to war- I am still waiting for cheap petrol.

I am still waiting for cheap petrol.

LOL don't hold your breath

A close friend of mine works in Benefit Fraud Investigations. He and 4 colleagues cover the whole of Greater South London (everything below the Thames) . They are not allowed to go out of their way to catch people who turn up at benefit offices in their BMWs and Mercs. Instead, they can only act on tip offs given them by the freephone "grass your neighbour up" lines.

Arses me off big time that the government can piss away millions every month on false claims, but can only pay for 5 staff to investigate the problem in an area that big. Even then, they cannot do their jobs properly because of all the red tape...

It stinks

I feel a right mug at the moment - I earn just over £20k, so a good proportion of my pay goes to tax/NI etc.(about £5k). I'm helping to fund lazy gits, but am not rich enough to make going to work really rewarding. But I can't find an NHS dentist - even tho' I've paid for one several times over !!

It's people like me who are not rich or poor who end up contributing the most IMHO. More and more people are now seemingly on benefits or studying some "interesting" course with no sign of a job at the end, spending spare cash on dope, fags and booze. This country is getting fooked up like the USA - the wrong messages come across all the time, ppl are all getting selfish and greedy. It's like we're at a party where we know it's going to end sometime, so we're going to go out with a bang and fook the consequences.

If you don't work, you shouldn't be able to afford fags and booze IMHO.

And being a white hetero male means new discrimination policies in my company mean I am positively discriminated against. Where's that BNP leaflet ?!

here here, Nelson, thats why I'm looking at upping sticks to Canada or The other side of the globe in NZ or Oz....

just need to stop spending money on me Zed and start saving ;)

I've worked in a University for the last 11 years & I know how much dead wood there is. Not so much the academic deparments but more in other departments.

There's one guy (assistant director) who's been working in the Information services department and for as long as I can remember he's done nothing but produce silly posters. He gets paid 40K a year for that! It seems to be very difficult to get rid of these people from the University, they become part of the furniture & no one wants the job of turfing them out.

I've heard it's the same story in our local county council too.
