brake fluid

it looks as though i could get an improvement on my brakes with some sort of upgraded fluid and after looking on tt.net to see how easy installing ss pipes and bleeding the system would be, they say dont use dot 5 fluid ? anyone know why ?

I was gonna ask about this. I need to top up my brake fluid, but on the fluid lid in the engine it sasy DOT 3 only. Whats best to put in?

Stuart

IMHO - Road car use DOT4 (or 5.1 - which is basically 4 anyway).

Dot 5 is *very* hygroscopic (absorbs water very quickly) - fine if you want to change the brake fluid at least once a year....
