Since having installed a ZCentre provided kph->mph speed converter my odometer has been acting up. It'll work fine for 40-70 miles and then stop. Everything else is functioning normally. Usually it works again after turning the engine off, letting the car sit for a while and then turning the engine back on. However, I've been driving the past two days without the bloody thing working and it is really starting to annoy me. Any suggestions? I have already looked at the back of the speedo binacle and all the connections seem fine.

Cheers guys!

Have you contacted Luke?

Danny, does your power steering come and go at all? Or if an Auto box, does the 'power' light (or O/D I think on UK) flash rapidly sometimes on startup?

If Yes - get the convertor replaced

If No - take apart the clocks and clean up the motor & spindle & gears on the odometer.. There's a tech somewhere but I'll be buggered if I can find it..

No, I haven't contacte Luke yet but might do so very soon.

Az - I have just given the whole pod the ones over when I put in the converter (even painted all the lights to amber - looks the business). However, and this is probably the problem, I clocked the odometer to read the correct miles and not that malarky of kilometers upto a point and the rest is miles ... It's all very strange as the first thousand odd miles went without any troubles. No problems with the powersteering or any flashing lights whatsoever.

Thanks for thinking with me though ...

Cheers and a bottle of beer!

No probs Danny..

One other thing - did you check the tiny little connector - goes between the speedo and the odometer? (very thin wires, tiny plug on each end)

Az

If you 'adjusted' the mileage then I would say this points more to the fact that it needs cleaning - could have moved some crap around into the gears.

Do a search for odometer and you should find the tech - Henri did it about 3 months or so ago.....

CheerZ,

Andy

Henri's tech is for the odo and the mileo. Are both of your's donald or is it just the odo ? Both mine were acting erratically, I took it all apart and had to shift one of the cogs along a spindle slightly - now it's fine. If only one has packed up then it may be something different, but it will be mechanical. There is a possibility then you buggered a tooth somewhere when you clocked it, and that catches occasionally.

You really are a great bunch of friends! biggrin.gif Many thanks to all of you who offered suggestions etc. I will have a look at the weekend if perhaps one of the cogs has cought (both odo and milo are buggered) and it does look like a mechanical problem. Perhaps I pushed the clamp that holds all the dial together back to tight ... Will let you know what I find. In the meantime I'm going to do a lot of driving and not clocking up any miles ... just joking!

Thanks again guys!
