Not sure mate, I wasn't born in 1971 ;).

LOL, you young whipper snapper. ;)

All the whippersnappers think computer games started with DOOM but I remember going down the Ha' Penny arcades and parting with two shillings for a game of Space Invaders :D

Me too bud, bought the original Space Invaders collection on PS/2 a few weeks back and me and Mrs Turbo love playing it. Also comes with a free keyring which has a pic of said invader and the line "Since 1978" on...class!

I remember playing on the flat arcade table machines in kids sections of pubs. Anyone remember then ? They were like little tables with screens in them.

Yep, remember it well....all coming flooding back!

Remember going round mates houses after school to

play Asteroids & Missile command on his Atari!!!

Also remember the flat table screens in pubs....kept us

kids busy for hours :)

I used to play them all the time LOL, things like moon cresta, centipede and phoenix. LOL

what was the racing game when your just guided a blob (car) around a grey track?

Flat table screens in the pubs were good once you wiped off all the spilt beer and fag ash :D

ahh those were the days  pong on the atari

cutting edge back then

regards,

alex

My arcade memories where a little more complex than the old ones.

I used to spend my money on Street Fighter (One), Double Dragon, Out Run, After Burner and so on.

I remember all the old Pong games on the Atari though :D

ure all forgetting the first mainstream game that took space invaders and atari on at their own game....defender....and closely followed by pacman.........but all these are lame when compared to the bell/braben masterpiece although not console and more pc the one and only elite.....still to this day in its reincarnation of eve online its responsible for more splits/break ups than any other game and is so good for selling stuff on ebay its untrue

Space Invaders, Missile Command, Asteroids, Gorf - happy days :)

Pole Position, Spy Hunter and Track and Field...absolute quality. ;) Oh and Pac Land!

Yeah Defender was good but too fast and too many buttons, if you were good at playing that you should be flying a Tornado by now! LMFAO :)

Pole Position going round the Fuji track was it? ;)

Spy Hunter was a classic game and I hope people got the joke with my smoking Z video! ;)

Track and Field kept many a joystick compay in business after thousands of children ruined theirs with aggressive waggling :D Ooo Err

Asteroids had a hyperspace button which meant almost certain death on pressing it :D

donkey kong was cool too :)

got pac land on MAME - the game still rocks!! :D

I was an Atari man (kid) myself - 400 then 800XL then ST then STE. I remember back at uni when I found my first emulator on the internet, downloaded it along with some fave games (Boulderdash, Track n Field [still got the blue button pad SRRAE!], Star Raiders, Astro Chase) took them home and spent hours with tears of happiness streaming down my face playing them. Ahhh those were the days...

Started with astroids on my moms IBM compatible Tandy pc. Then had atari, sinclair spectrum,

Was awsome at donkeycong and defender

ranked 8 in UK at quake2 PvP

Play diablo2 and castle wolfenstein enemy territory now.

I've still got my Atari console with games - loved Defender on it. Got 2 Atari St's at home - with all my games and demos - cant bear to part with the nostalgia of when games had playability and werent rated just on graphics!
