Well hopefully I should be getting my TT in the next couple of days, a 91 H auto with 62K in metallic black and totally standard.

The question is once I have got the prop vibration cured where do I start modifying. I thought of starting with the exhaust and then.... any thoughts?

Stu,

i think the better question is

"Where do i stop?"

and i'm sure most people here will agree.. ;)

intake and exhaust are good starts,

ecu and boost controller,

brakes and suspension,

injectors and intercoolers,

turbos

pretty much in that order i think.

chuck in some wheels and interior stuff and

and then bodykit

i think you're sorted

oh, and then you can think about traction control, radar detectors, ecu monitors....

how is that ? everyone agree ? LOL..

welcome to the never ending quest for power

That sounds like a good start. Do you have any good links to suppliers sites?

Cheers

Good luck!

Hope that transmission will hold!

I would get an extra tranny oil cooler just to

be safe. The stock oil cooler is inside the radiator and

becomes insufficient after years of use (residue on the walls).

I replaced my radiator and I'm running without an additional oil cooler

for the time beeing. I think I will get one later on.

Any service records?

Go synthetic on the tranny oil as well.

I'm using RedLine D4 ATF (recommended by Level 10).

If the oil hasn't been changed before and the tranny is worned out

then the oil change could make it fail sooner though!

That's because the new oil is more slippery than the old

contaminated one.

If you want high engine power be prepared to upgrade the tranny though!

It won't hold (experience talking...:).

91H... you can probably pass an MOT with that cat removed!

Craig - where does he stop. Well around the 650 or TD05 turbos, wild cams, 3.1 bored heads, £10000 gearbox, duel pop, 720 injectors, 1000bhp sort of level.

do you think 1000bhp is achievable from the Z engine ?

and why do i always forget to mention the gearbox when listing mods ? i know them, i remember them, but i forget to type them !

Jez, how long after your new turbos will you be getting the cams and big bore ? ;)

Craig,

Jez said that he's not getting any more parts for his Z this year!

Given the short period we have before next year, the turbo's and cams have probably already been ordered.

All I can say is 'watch this space'!!

1000bhp... That's what Nissan built to win a few races, like the 24h LeMons a few years back.

1000bhp out of a VG30DETT - hmm i would like to see.

Highest i've ever heard of was just the wrong side of 800hp from japan.

I know there is a Z in Austrailia that runs something like 1200hp but that is skyline powered.

Anyone know what Kyle Plukkets racecar was running before he sold it?

And craig shame on you putting Exhaust and intake before brakes - you know what mummy always sez, brakes should always come first.

Dont blame me if you strap on your new stainless steel exhaust and go flying thru a bus loada school kids coz your brakes weren't good enuff hehe. ;o)

Nico,

I have to agree with you that - I'd also like to see the proof, which I have in several brochures. I'll scan a couple in and send them through. (a bit later)

I think it's even printed in a Nissan Brochure!

apparently JUN built two dozen 300's with 1200bhp or somwhere around that figure they were running 9 sec quartermiles on street tires,

contact jun if anyone can speak jap.

used tdo6/7 size turbos

yeah but that was with the JUN custom Titanium Engines, Not too cheap to buy, so i have heard.

Veilside have built a few monsters too, but i think we have to conceed that the standard Z engine is not to hot for 700HP + applications.

When I lived in the States a few years ago there was a company in the midwest that did Cryogenic freezing. The process froze items to 0 degree Kelvin which changed the molecular structure and made them stronger such as a gillette razor blade would last for a year (what a cost saving!!) they also did engine blocks and machine parts. I will try and find the site as they must have one.

Porterfield offered to Cryogenic treat my brake discs for an extra fee, to make them last longer for full on racing. I didn't opt for this though. Don't know to what tempratures.

Andy Elephant's latest rebuild is aiming for 750 bhp+. Time will tell obviously ...

well i saw on toystory 2 that buzz light year had an anti gravity field, so if you put anti gravity fuel in your car then the pistons dont work at the force of gravity which mean you could rev your z to at least 20000rpm which must mean more than a thousand horsepower lol.

ill contact disney to see if they can get this for us.

he he he.

but seriously anything with over 500bhp is plenty, i mean i raced a gt diablo and rolling in third i sat with him until midway through 4th and he left me for dead,

if i could have that power i would be happy as a pig in shit.

anyway chat to you guys in two weeks im leaving sa today and driving through europe again.

cheers
