Hi,

I am new to the 300's and was wondering are the UK 300zx's 280hp same as the imports?

Im getting told that the UK's are the ones to go for and the insurance is definately better!

Im after a 90-91 uk manual TT, but am struggling to find any, anyone know a good place to look?

Also I see a lot of targa's, but am i right in thinking these are all imports?

Thanks,

Dan.

All 300's are targa's the UK's are cheaper on insurance.

Best place to buy would be here on the For Sale section.

Only thing about a UK is they're not always as good condition as imports but that's not a fast rule..

If you can find a 92 you'll have better interior or a 94 like mine the latest interior verty smart....

I've seen plenty of 300zx in my time and have to disagree. In my experience the Uk ones I've looked at are generaly showing higher milage but, the interiors and general appearance would suggest the reverse. You nearly always better going after a club owned car as the people in clubs tend to be there because they really love the motors.

there were some slick top 300s too, but are rare from what ive read. someone here has one i think, not a tt tho.

All UK 300ZXs are T-Top, Twin Turbo and 2+2.

Any NA, 2 seaters, slick top or convertable are imports.

Just buy mine , its a jap one in the for sale section but its only 4.5k put what you save towards the insurance. you know it makes sense, its a bargain!! worth at least 5k of anyones money. Go and have a look.. go on...go

Someone put scoops out of his misery. Buy his car. I feel sorry for him ;) . I've heard it's a real good un :D

Oh yeah. as for insurance give Houghton Insurance a call 01582 867763. speak to Ken

Do houghton do Imports?

Certainly do. I've got a SWB TT slick top. all mods declared £360 fully comp. that is as a second car policy and 5000mls pa. the second car can be the wifes car etc...

Cheers lads appreciate the feedback, another Q....a targa is the version with the T-bar roof that you can take out yeah?

If so, are there any known probs with leakage like with the MR2 T-cut roofs?

Yes they can be taken out. They do look smart with the tops out. As for leaks.

In short see:

Thanks for that info mate. I know everyone is saying that Targa's are UK spec, but when I get an insurance quote online the Targa comes up as an import (ZX Targa Import), only ones that dont have "(import)" after the model are ZX Turbo, ZX Auto & ZX....any ideas?

Also this auto boxes, spoke to someone earlier and they it was a switchable auto, is like a tiptronic box, how does this work and is this available on a uk?

Is the UK a 280hp? or 230hP?

The auto is a straight automatic. The imports have a sport mode and a hold mode but Uk ones don't.

UK cars are 280bhp, it's the non-turbo (import) car that is around 230bhp. Jap TT cars are 280-300bhp

As for your insurance query, all uk cars are 2+2 targa top twin turbos. You don't therefore need to specify "targa top" when looking for insurance on a UK car, which in confusing the poor bemused insurance clerks :D

Just say it's a 300zxTT, uk not import. No problems..... ;)

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ahhh i seee....got to admit im after a manual if I can find one, but i did wonder about those auto's.

Ah right 280hp are they thats what I like to hear!

Cheers for the info on the insurance, clears that up.

Did they do leather interiors on the 90-91's? Or did this come in later on?

AFAIK, leather was optional throughout the life of the car. My UK 91 has it. I have only heard of 2 UK cars which didnt have leather, but leather in Imports are about half and half.

0-60 is 5.6 seconds for the TT, top speed is limited to 155mph (until you mod it!! ;))

yup, any aftermarket chip will remove it.

after that it depends on how much power youve got, but somewhere around 175-185 should be realistic with a few mods. theoretically around 200mph depending on power & rev limiter  :D

Only with an auto though ;)
