Hi all

I have a slight problem with my ZX the HICAS light has came on and the steering has become very heavy and stiff I have just filled up the steering fluid with castrol detrox and it seems to have leaked out but there is still a lot left in there any ideas.

Also does anyone know where to fit the wires from a air/fuel gauge to the zx

Cheers Peter Lambert

Any ideas where its leaking from?

Mine sprang a leak in the power steering pipe

under the engine area, its cladded wih pipe lagging

so is hard to detect, if you (carefully) cut away the

lagging there is a pipe joiner (pressed joint) joining

the pipe together, mine leaked here.

Take the whole pipe off & take in to a hydraulics Co,

the chatged me £20 for a new pipe, make sure you take

the joiners at either end with you too.

The guy who fixed mine found it easier to remove the

alternator (or starter motor, can't remember which!)

to gain access to the pipe from underneath.

Hope this helps........Simon.

If the light doesnt go out when you have filled the fluid pot up, and the fact your steering has gone heavy *might* suggest a speed sensor problem. Is your speedo behaving itself or is it a bit erratic?

Err I just got the hell rid of the HICAS and the cars a lot better for it. No more disco lights for me.

how did you get rid of the hicas sorry dont mean to sound thick thanks peter

mine started to do that when i had the speed de-limiter wired in. turns out the de-limiter is not wored in properly and i have to take it to Luke at Z centre to correct it. mine starts off okay with power steering, then a couple of minutes into journey, steering goes stiff, hi-cass light comes on. may be a coincidence but it only happened after the speed device went in

thats quite intresting as the car has just had the speedo chnaged

give mike a ring at MJP and get the stillen HICAS remover. its about £250 but IMHO bloody worth every penny
