gear knob removal ???

I want to replace the gearshift gator but cant get the top off to get the gator off any ideas thanks

    Trouble is they're on 'FT' and loctite'd. I had to use a pair of mole grips and it wrecked the old gearknob. Didn't matter because I had a nice new Navan one though. ;)

    try wrapping a towel round it and using a stilson wrench, it will move :)

    i had to cut mine of,as i tried grips for about 15 mins but then i was changing the gearknob along with gator [bit of elbow grease]
