My has been missing recently so I checked the car out and found the AAC valve connection to have broken off, so i replaced the connector and now the AAC valve is connected, but on idle the car is on a costant 1500 rpm, I have also swapped the AAC valve and still have the same problem, what else can it be???

try resetting the EC?U by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins, if that doesnt bring it back down it could be the temp sensor is faulty or the TPS needs adjusting.

temp sensor has been changed, but what and where is the TPS????

My s13 once idled 1600rpm cause the throttle valve sensor(idle switch) was loose, maybe that's the cause

The TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor. A search will find lots of posts on it.

Yep, cheerz found loads of info....Hope this will sort it out???

Mine does this. But (when it's warm) all I have to do is tap up the throttle pedal a few times and all seems well again. Not ideal but don't know what else it is.

Just unplug the connector on the flying lead off the TPS - grey one. When you pull it apart, you'll prolly get a load of shit fall out of it, then just reconnect it - should bring the idle back down ;)

When you disconnect the TPS, should that make a difference to the car when it is running, cos mine still stays on 1500 rpm. How can I be sure what it is, is there any basic tests that can be done, or do I have to go to the dredded Nissan Dealers????

Well there's your answer - the TPS connection is shit!!! Have a look at the terminals in the connector, see if there's any corrosion in there preventing a good connection ;)

What's actually inside the TPS? I'm presuming it's some sort of pot... sounds like you might have a cracked track on the pot. You know how old hi-fi crackle when you turn up the volume - exactly the same thing! If it was the connector I wouldn't have thought just moving the pedal would sort it. But the connector's certain to be stuffed as well. ;)

There's actually a couple of things in there. Hard idle switch, WOT switch and the potentiometer for the in betweens. Looking at the wiring loom, I don't think the WOT switch is actually wired up though. Could be that bouncing the throttle open and closed finally manages to make it hit the hard idle switch...

The idle is still high and the TPS is ok, been checked by dealers, they say it may be the idle switch, where is this located???

Well, I have hade the car at Nissan, they checked the TPS and it's fine, the AAC valve is also fine, but they are not sure why the car is revving high on idle, neither can I , but the revs go down when the AAC valve is disconnected and the car starts missing.

Urgent help required! Is there anyone in the Leeds area tha can have a look?

Have you tried disconnecting the idle valve and re setting the tickover to 700rpm as explained in the manual then re connecting the idle valve. The adjusting screw is nearby the battery on the side of the plenum - short screwdriver needed?

Sorry if you've already tried that
