Please can someone explain how the ignition system works (in lay mans terms ish)....

 

Previous only used to dizzy cap/rotor arms/HT lead set ups..... all looks a bit complicated on the Zed...Forgive my ignorance..

    On the Z every sparkplug has it's own coil..

    each coil is driven/actuated by the PTU (powertransistor that amplifies the current high enough for the coils to generate a spark)

    The PTU is controlled by the ECU

     

    The ECU gets it's information regarding RPM and camshaft/crankshaft-position through the CAS (Crank Angle sensor)

     

    ...So basically the dizzy cap + rotor are replaced by the CAS
